It's odd as hell that in his long discussions with his favorite bartender that night he apparently talked about his long hours with the DNC causing problems and didn't mention this new exciting job offer. The missing hour. Why would he beaten and shot?
Beaten? Typical.
Shot? Typical.

The job offer that wasn't.
The missing hour.
The robbery that wasn't.
