A couple of people I know wanted Clinton because she would make better SCOTUS appointments. That was never very likely, she is about as liberal as Adolf Hitler.

What might happen is that President Trump (!) -- that still looks weird - might have to do some horse trading, this for that, and he might put another Scalia or Thomas on the Court. Hopefully he will resist that.
