Best option: Pass Rand Paul's bill.
Second best option: Let Obamacare fail on its own as the premium death spiral continues, hold separate votes on popular ideas like increasing the HSA contribution limits, repealing the 3.8% Obamacare capital gains surcharge, allowing interstate competition amongst insurance companies, etc. Might not get to 60 votes on all of those, but let the Dems be on the record as opposing those common sense measures for the 2018 midterms.

No one is going to agree with that, but the prospect of a President Kamala Harris and a Democrat controlled Congress, writing a Single Payer plan, should scare the bejesus out of Republicans to get something done.

Dems want BCRA to pass so they can do this.

I doubt Kamala runs though. But hickenlooper would definitely pass that.

Single payer would be a political dynamite with the taxes that would have to happen to make it happen.

In fact, hawkyeye, I think a healthy, active state like CO would be on the losing end of a single payer system. If you are healthy and don't use lots of medical care, your are probably going to be paying more in taxes than what you get back in terms of care.

Healthcare is the single biggest issue facing the country. BCRA (if passed) will be a big problem for the Rs in 2018/2020/2022.

And anything the dems did would come back to haunt them. Reality is there is no good solution to healthcare.

Repeal ObamaCare, every line.

Ins. companies must:
Sell across state lines.
Offer preexisting and non-preexisting policies.
Offer to age 26 policies and to current dependent only policies.

More choice means more competition and lower costs. Free enterprise is the answer not Government ObamaCare Lite.

I didn't read what you said but the ahca should say one thing:

All medical facilities are required to have doors that only open if you swipe your insurance card, like a 24 hour gym

actually they can't even pass single payer in california.

“Even senators who voted for SB 562 noted there are potentially fatal flaws in the bill,” he said in a statement issued late Friday afternoon, “including the fact it does not address many serious issues, such as financing, delivery of care, cost controls or the realities of needed action by the Trump administration and voters to make SB 562 a genuine piece of legislation.

“In light of this, I have decided SB 562 will remain in the Assembly Rules Committee until further notice.”

seems it would cost as much as the entire california current budget

A new study by the California State Senate shows that single payer health care would cost more than the entire current state budget.

The annual price tag for single payer health care in the Golden State would be a whopping $400 billion.
The total amount of money allocated for the California state budget for the coming fiscal year is $179.5 billion
TILT!

GOP should just go constitutional and get rid of all government healthcare policies They have the majority in both houses and president. It is now or never
While they are at it they should close half of the federal government departments

I would stop discussions and tell everyone that Obamacare will stay exactly the way it is and wait for it to crash and burn.

Public option / Medicaid for all with automatic enrollment would be both popular and feasible.

I mean obviously you'd have guards to keep people from sneaking in and to chase out the ones loitering

If I was trump I'd also pass the "Tigerland dress code" law for hospitals

Best option:
shite can Obamacare and let the free market sort it out.

But that won't happen because we have to play politics so the sheople can fight among themselves over which is to blame.

Healthcare is not a free market.

Healthcare never has been a free market.

Healthcare never will be a free market.
