Help! My 3-Year-Old Is Obsessed With Trump

I think this article really illustrates the disconnect between the elite and us lowly proletariates. I have an NYT subscription and enjoy it, I think they have good reporting and all. But I also think the contributors are entitled asshats whom I'd love nothing more than to see them plucked from their delusional walled off reality and forced to live amongst the filth that is flyover country.

Who could blame her? He shared a first name with Donald Duck, and his last name rhymed with “jump,” her favorite activity. She was never able to pronounce Hillary Clinton, which evolved into “Hairy Clinton,” and then finally, “Mustache.” (I can’t pretend to follow a toddler’s logic, but it appears this was one more demographic with which Secretary Clinton failed to resonate.)
Sounds like the kid is smarter than the mom

These days you don't even have to click the link on these crazy anti-Trump articles to know it's going to be a woman...
Women have gone bat-shite insane in media. I'm starting to think, like female football announcers, women in political commentary need to be removed for the time being...they are just mudding the waters with their craziness.

If it touches domestic politics in any way, the NYT isn't very useful.
Otherwise they are a top notch paper.

Yes. The failing nyt is such a shite publication and trump gave them an exclusive interview in the white house last Wednesday.

I agree, most of their reporting is quality stuff. They have an agenda when it comes to domestic politics though which makes one question their trustworthiness on it. And they absolutely should be investigating and reporting on Trump (and Hillary) and uncovering dirt, but do so without a preconceived agenda.

Maybe I'm obtuse, but what is with the use of "based" in this context? I've seen that a few times before.

what a stupid, virtue signalling count this "author" is.
The only thing lamer is that the failing NYT published that crap.

It's an adjective used to signal a truth to one's self without regard to outside pressures. Steadfast, cool, determined. It stems from The Based God, Lil B

Sounds like this little girl isn't exposed to much diversity. Isn't that a bad thing?

Thanks.
It is a rap reference.

Not really about rap per se. As an adolescent Lil B was mocked as a 'basehead', or someone who is addicted to crack. Lil B decided to embrace his oddities instead of fighting them, thus 'based'

The title of the article tells me that we are dealing with some overly-crazed liberal who talks to a three year old about federal politics.
Then I saw this:
This woman is a crazy person who is harming her toddler.
Then I saw this:
quote:
Yassi, my daughter, attends the kind of school that made counseling available in the wake of the 2016 presidential elections. Parents stood together comforting one another on Nov. 9 in an act of collective mourning that I hadn’t seen since Sept. 11. This is probably exactly the type of school that the Trump voters were hating on with their epic middle finger raised to the elites of this country.
This woman is a crazy person who is harming her toddler.
