I'd submit that it has, and that it actually occurred in what many refer to as the "dark ages" ironically enough.

The family unit, interdependence within the community, pride for and defense of homeland, intense faith, harmony with nature, delayed gratification, unmuddled identity, and a constant pursuit of honor above all else.

Surely some societal reforms were clearly necessary and nobody can deny the importance and miracle of modern medicine, but other science, the convenience of modern logistics, mass communication, and instrumental technology is gutting us as an emotionally rational species.

A century from now you will likely have to be a damn non-gendered cyborg to fit in at the rate we are going. I think we all inherently feel that it is wrong but continue to push on because we become addicted to the convenience technological progress provides, it's like an ecstasy drip that lifts you up and leaves you in shambles as it wanes.

I'm hoping cyborgs are female...or at least multi-gendered.

I have a crazy theory about how it was a combination of social media and internet porn that ushered in the SJW lunatic culture gripping the world.

It's long and rambling and not based on much but hunches but I think it's spot on.

I concur.

In fact, I can pinpoint the exact moment that humanity peaked - fortunately I, along with hundreds of millions of other humans, got to see it as it happened:

ETA: Not everyone was impressed

No although I think I did during Trump's inauguration.

This is just a blip in time, do not let it get you down. When Rome fell, I am sure everyone was thinking the same thing.

Everything is cyclical and Humanity will be Great Again one day.

Coincidentally, I was going to say that humanity hasn't peaked. We're just witnessing the 21st century version of the fall of the Roman Empire.

The answer to that question is always no. Things can always get better.

2 sexes is very costly in a biological sense. Also a practical one when you think about it.

I'll give you the cliffs. I haven't really sat down and flushed it all out, just some theories I have loosely right now.

Social media by its very nature lends itself to a vocal minority. Left wing activists have used it as a platform to bully everyone else into submission and make themselves appear to be much greater in # than they are. It's allowed a fringe group to seize tremendous power. They are the new culture police.

When did the hardcore SJW culture shift really kick into overdrive when you really think about it. I'd say between 2010-2012, that's a few years after Twitter had hit it so big. These people have always been out there, but Twitter allowed it to explode. Witch Hunts and Virtue Signaling just didn't work the same before Twitter.

Internet porn has ruined a huge chunk of younger men because it's basically doped them up into a stupor. There have been a ton of legitimate studies indicating just how terrible mass porn consumption is on the male brain. Porn itself isn't a problem, the problem is mass consumption of it on a regular basis. Men are naturally supposed to be aggressive and competitive. A big driver of those characteristics is a desire to seek sexual conquests. Porn tricks men's brains into thinking they are sexually successful even when they are not. You can be weak, spineless, afraid, timid, meek, etc. everything a man shouldn't be, and be totally ok with it because your brain is sexually satisfied. The pussification of men has been going on the past few decades but it's dramatically sped up in the internet porn age.

Also in a weird way internet porn has made mainstream sexuality "dirty". Look how few rated R movies come out now days. R rated sexual movies were VERY common in the 70's, 80's, and even into the 90's. Look at how magazines like Maxim and Playboy recently tried to 'clean up' and push sexuality out of them. Before internet porn people things of a healthy sexual stimulating nature were part of everyday mainstream culture. With internet porn normal sexuality has been slowly disappearing from mainstream culture. The SJW freaks have done this and nobody objected strongly because you can just go on the internet to get your porn fix instead. So in a weird way, porn made normal sex a dirty thing.

I've read a few articles on it and need to sort of flush out my thoughts more fully, but that is a pretty good intro.

Not by accomplishment per se, more as in where did we hit the sweet spot. The perfect mix of culture, technological advancement, and institutional development.

For instance -
When did humans ever truly require more than a slashing weapon, bludgeoning weapon, stabbing weapon, or shield as tools for warfare? One might fairly argue that more lethal ordinances only work to erode the quality life for all humans.

Another thing to consider is global population. Does a larger, more dense, and more interactive population ultimately work to create more strain and conflict? It is great for output and innovation but at what cost to the human condition?

With technology advancing exponentially we are bucking thousands of years of of biological, cultural, and environmental evolution pretty hard in the name of progress. The sun will envelop us all eventually, that is the only thing we are progressing towards. What is the point of poisoning your own well in the meantime?

I think mentally and physically humanity peaked a long time ago. I would say we peaked during the Mesolithic (perhaps even earlier) when only the strongest and smartest truly survived. Back then the average human was probably superior in the sense of intelligence and physique (physical hardiness). It's just they didn't have agriculture which means all of their time and resources went into energy intensive hunting and gathering. As a result their population stayed small and they didn't develop much in the sense of "civilization."

Culturally and scientifically, the 20th century was pretty impressive. From horse and buggy to jet airplanes, moon landings and digital computers in the span of a century. If you take all of human technology prior to the 20th century, it doesn't compare to what happened DURING the 20th century itself.

But that says nothing about the average human. Remember, probably less than 0.1% of people have anything to do with scientific achievement. Take those few geniuses away from us and we're still without electricity and using horse and buggy.

The question is can we keep it going? Will humanity get dumber because of poor breeding practices? Or will there always be geniuses who advance civilization no matter how much stupid people outbreed smart people?

EDIT:

Oh and I can't forget about genetic engineering. Perhaps that will be our saving grace. We will create super-human designer babies with 200 IQs and who are immune to most diseases.

And I am not even going to get into AI. I have my doubts that AI ever will be able to "destroy" humanity as Elon Musk suggests, but that's another topic.
