Well now...

quote:

GPS Fusion founder, Glenn Simpson, among other Democrats were on the payroll of the Russian lawyer who met with Donald Trump Jr. in June of 2016.

quote:

On Monday, Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s outside counsel, alleged that the meeting had been set up under false pretenses and implied that Veselnitskaya’s association with Fusion GPS was relevant to the alleged deception. “Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the president and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier,” Corallo said in a statement.

Well Fusion is a private detective agency with a strong presence in Russia. I'm not exactly surprised that the attorney for some of the most powerful families in Russia has hired them at some point to investigate something.

Isn't the point though that this Russian attorney wasn't actually there with Hillary dirt?

Fusion was hired as part of the lobbying against the Magnitsky Act. Not "to investigate something at some point by someone."

No, she wasn't. She lied to gain access and was more than likely aided by the Obama Administration to allow this to happen.

Don't know. That they were lobbying for the repeal of the Magnitsky act is established.

OP says they were on payroll of Russian attorney. It looks like they were hired by a separate American firm.

So a group of powerful and connected Russians set up a meeting, and a well-known attorney also duped them to fain access?

Except the Obama administration was in the midst of court battle with her. The appeal was actually argued on June 9th USA v. Prevezon in lower Manhattan.

The Obama administration being behind it doesn't make any sense, since they were in a court battle, it's very risky and probably illegal, they were only setting up the Trump campaign for something politically damaging not legally damaging, AND they didn't use the politically damaging information when it would have been useful (before the election).

It's ridiculous for Obama administration to he so incompetent for 8 years, then all of a sudden everytime something is politically damaging to Trump, somehow they are skilfully competent enough to set up Trump.

And I find it disturbing that the obvious points to dirty Russian politics, yet so many want to dismiss that and blame the other side in the US. And it still doesn't negate the stupidity of the Trump associates who acted on their own accord.

Yeah they are paid for hire company, focused on dirty politics. The Ds use them, but I'm sure they aren't principled enough to care only about the ideology and issues of those writing the checks.

It seems odd that they're really well-connected to Russian stuff in their two most well-known activities which, we're led to believe, are completely unconnected.

Lolz. Baker Hostetler wasn't running the lobbying efforts against the Magnitsky Act.
