Government Shutdown...what are they scared of?

Really, what in the flying frick are these guys scared of? We saw last time that the dire predictions of electoral mayhem turned out to be as accurate as the April 1977 Time Magazine cover.
Also, why the hell is government operation sacrosanct? Are the bureaucracies that get "shut down" really that important if they are deemed not "essential" enough to shut down? Is the remaining 80-90% of the government that remains in operation really essential?
Personally, I say we shut it the frick down… and any department/program deemed shutdown-worthy has to then "justify their existence" to quote Leftist hero George Bernard Shaw in order to re-open.

God, if only they really would shut it down.

It's like the ACA repeal. Even though everyone knowledgable on the subject is easily old enough to remember that people weren't dying in the streets prior to the ACA, there are those that would swear every city looked like something out of The Walking Dead prior to the ACA passing.
The last time the government shut down (which was really just an 18% shutdown) it had a negative impact on the lives of very few (if any).

The question you need to ask yourself, is will the dems cave with a shutdown? if so, why?

They don't want to give Trump $1.4 billion to start the wall. "They" meaning the GOP.
They fight is between the congressional Republicans and Trump.

You do realize that Republicans are running the entire government. They would be shutting their own government down and would be completely responsible.

Dude, a little history lesson. I know it was a long time ago but bear with me. In the last election, the Republicans took control of the House, the Senate and the Presidency. I know it was a long time ago. It's probably the kind of obscure history question that they put on the SAT. But the only thing you can possibly glean from that historical truth is that Democrats have nothing to do with it. Nothing.

I can't tell the difference.

This is the argument that the right is using to say why they can't get a budget passed, and they need to ask themselves what will change by the democrats?

If you remember… Obama admin went out of its way to make the shutdown visible and painful. National parks roped off, white house tours closed, kicking vets on a pilgrimage to the WWII memorial off the premises, etc.

Yep.
Nice try at gotcha, but the R party is not lockstep. Some do their jobs, and some live to perpetuate government.

I pray that they do as you suggest.

My point exactly. The administration had to stretch to ludicrous degrees in order to show any effect, and even then they were extremely minimal. At most they were merely highly annoying.
