So just for kicks, let's assume that AGW is man made and we can do something about it. How do you control India and China's emissions?

This is not an argument for inaction in America.

Are you willing to pay massive increases for everything you currently buy to offset the increase in costs from carbon credits?

Exactly how much would that be?

How do you keep the government from abusing their power to arbitrarily punish companies and executives they don't like and reward those they do like?

Yes it is. If tomorrow's destruction is inevitable, then our pain in the interim is not worth going through.

Don't confuse inaction for fair and equal treatment. By introducing a carbon tax / credit trading system, you create an unfair advantage for businesses in countries that don't have the same taxation. So why should we punish our own companies with additional costs when the net impact of those laws and regulations aren't going to amount to much due to the output of carbon emissions in other countries?

Difficult to tell. But for the sake of argument, everything you buy requires some form of energy to produce. Are you arguing that the impact will be immaterial to our cost of living?

No. I am a realist. Historically speaking, especially in the last 20 years, we've seen the US government reward friends of the administration and punish those that are not friends. It's happened with both republican and democratic administrations. How do you get a system set up whereby you assess the carbon credit / tax in a fair manner? How do you keep it from being abused?

This president certainly has give us multiple examples:
- Michelle Obama's friend that built the technology behind the Obamacare website
- Solyndra
- IRS targeting groups with opposing viewpoints

Previously, Bush also gave us multiple examples:
- Haliburton
- Treatment of seed patents in favor of Monsanto

etc.......

They're warning us that the climate in Juneau could be like the current climate in Seattle in 50 years. Locals are saying "bring it on."
