"dems can use the Rs position to bludgeon them."

The Dems are almost gleeful in attacking "deniers," calling them names and so forth, and they have been quite effective in their PR battles. All is fair, I suppose. What I REALLY wish the GOP could do is pivot on this issue to where we really should be: how MUCH of warming is caused by man's CO2 emissions? how much can we do to counter it? what are the costs of doing so, both in $ and in other externalities? And of course, what avg. temperature are we actually trying to achieve? The answers to these questions are hazy to non-existent right now and I think it would be a policy disaster to spend untold billions to combat CO2 before scientists can answer these questions with some degree of certainty. "Doing nothing" or "proceeding cautiously" can make a lot of sense when you don't really know what you're doing; alas, this narrative is more difficult to communicate than showing a picutre of a cute polar bear on a melting piece of ice.

I am a believer in man made climate change and that argument works with me! Its too nuanced for the right, and will look silly if they backpedaled - global warming is real but we shouldn't do anything.

I think its just a dead issue for Rs, they would be better served to minimize the discussion and focus on winning issues.

Hey, there's a TV weather guy here who still gives the "Fisherman's Forecast." I used to use that. It never worked.

Everyone agrees we are warming, but perhaps we can agree that global warming is real but we cant do anything
