This stuff is just killing us in NW Louisiana, it's going to destroy Caddo and Bistineau, Caddo is just about ruined in the best spots. Can't they hit this thing genetically like they are doing with mosquitos?

I hope they figure something out soon, it is decimating Louisiana waterways.

It's February and the Texas side of Caddo is almost choked out, it's destroying some of the best bass areas ever on the lake, Ames Basin, Clinton Lake, the bayous etc.

I read that Trump is going to issue an EO to depart all of them.

Damn I thought this was an animal. I was going to recommend posting it on the outdoor board and they'll have them cleared out by Sunday

It's also in Wallace Lake and portions of Cross Lake. They've experimented with a weevil insect that eats the Salvania but those get killed off in the winter time.

They've done a drawdown on Bistineau to try to fight the Salvania. No such option on Cross with it being the city water supply.

Doesn't seem like the drawdown has done a lot

For a drawdown to really work, the land has to completely dry out. Completely. Which is hard in Louisiana.

It grows like crazy and it's tough to kill. It can get so thick on top of the water that grass grows on it, which chokes down the oxygen in the water and kills everything else. When it gets that thick, it makes it tough on boats to go on the water.

It really hasn't. They've been pretty aggressive with Bistineau the last few years trying to get it under control but not much has worked. Sadly, Bistineau is probably lost to the Salvania until someone comes up with an effective way to eradicate it.

Don't move it. It is perfect for the political board.

This plant sort of like duckweed but is an invasive species not from around here. All efforts to control it have been very expensive and only serve to knock it back temporarily.

Once you let it in you can't get rid of it!

You would think they could do a a genetic modification where it has a bad trait and dies out, this could be worth a fortune

My dad has ran out of Pine Cove since 1970, he finally gave up year before last. Told the owner if he could sell his houseboat fine, if not the hell with it.

They're actually trying to genetically modify that weevil I mentioned so that it will survive the cold.

Adding another foreign body to get rid one is a bad idea imo.
