False allegations of rape occur at about a 2% clip - on par with false reports of all crimes. The worst outcome of the duke lacrosse case is that it will always be the basis for undermining real victims.
I've seen studies with rates far higher than 2%. They are local studies, not national comprehensive ones. But they are troubling.

I'm not a buyer.
Regardless, how many of those """"""2%"""""" of KNOWN false accusations are PROSECUTED???????
That is the question.
What is the answer?
What should the answer be?

How the frick are people making this a freedom of speech or due process issue? He's THE face of the University right now and coaches can bench people for any reason they want. They're the fricking coach.
All of this is true and the University has the right to discipline him the way they choose. The issue with me is that our society is headed in the direction where all types of speech are now getting overly scrutinized and almost everything now offends someone. And then that someone seeks punishment to appease them because their sensibilities have been offended. This is a bad trend in my opinion and will only get worse.

The dude stood up in the middle of the cafeteria in front of hundreds of people and screamed "Pussy" multiple times... I am nowhere near a prude, but that is downright trashy.

Yes because we all know that college age kids never heard or use the word," Pussy."
And in my post, I agreed it was trashy.

It's not just trashy Rev, it's harassment.
Would you want someone talking to your wife like that? Whether Winston was targeting his comments at a specific female or not, it could easily be interpreted that way.

I guess I can say anything I want in public now because most people have heard anything I could say.

Was it being directed at a specific person? Are there any college kids that haven't been exposed to words like pussy in person, movies, songs? The world is overly sensitive.

Ever been to an LSU football game? I've heard this and worse many times. I don't personally use vulgar language and I think it's cheap, but I also don't get bent out of shape if I hear it.

So because they have heard it, its ok for a person to scream it with no repercussions?
I'm sure your wife has heard the word count before... I'm guessing you'd be cool with me screaming count in front of her

You're of course judging his behavior as you would someone with a blank slate. This guy does not have a blank slate.
The crab legs incident should have been a wake up call.

It's interesting that I usually get castigated here for my narrow views, but when I say people should lighten up, that's ostracized as well. Go figure.
I'm not criticizing FSU for their action as much as I'm shocked that so many are offended by words. Words that many if not the majority use frequently.

If what he did was true he needs to be removed from school and not play for any college team

She has heard the word and I certainly wouldn't want anyone screaming it in front of her, but if they did, I wouldn't go to some authorities to handle the situation. I'd probably just walk away from the area like I've done in the past when certain people are blasting obscenity laced music from their cars.
Some of the same people here and some pretending like they are offended are the same ones who laughed at the original YouTube video of the guy in the hoodie stealing the reporters microphone and uttering the pussy statement. It's hypocritical at best.
P.S. He didn't yell," count."

Yeah, he yelled "frick her in the Pussy" multiple times
As a representative and face of the university, you're held to a set of standards. What he did wash trashy and the program punished him for it.

Rev, just stop. Some of you are so ideologically driven you can't take a step back and just think.
This isn't about offensiveness, this is about appropriateness. Dude, you just can't shout those types of things out without some repercussions. I'm just so confused as to what is so hard for people to understand about this.

Ok, how would you handle the situation if one of your employees keeps standing on the table and shouting this phrase out in the company cafeteria? Nothing?

I don't use those words out of respect for women. Perhaps you were raised differently.

Exactly... I'm not offended one bit, but I know that you shouldn't stand up in a crowded place and scream that.

I also found out about the crab legs. If he wanted them that bad a booster cub member could have easily bought him some (isn't that their job) lol. This guy is a dumbass
