Fox News forced to correct video showing 'retired Navy SEAL' veteran

Another case of stolen valor. This guy should be shot. Another case of "fake news" from Faux News.
LINK
It turns out the guy never served in Vietnam, was never a SEAL and didn't receive a Purple Heart:
“It got bigger and bigger," he said. “What I did I‘m ashamed of, and I didn’t mean to cause so much disgrace to the SEALs.”
Fox News was forced to run a correction last night:
So what's true in Garofalo's story? The 72-year-old served in the Navy from 1963 to 1967 as an aviation boatswain's mate, and was deployed for a while in Rota, Spain. He is also a talented glass artist who gifted two presidential seals to President Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.
Former and retired SEALs said they tried to contact Fox News about Garofalo's fake story but the network failed to correct it.
“Fox News not withdrawing that story has drove me nutty,” Don Shipley, a retired SEAL who's dedicated to finding fake military stories, told Navy Times.

I'm glad someone is out there exposing these fake "heroes."

If there isn't already, there should be a specific law against this kind of shite and folks who break it should be prosecuted.
And Richard 'Dick' Blumenthal could be first in line...

Yeah, but what about _______

Saw a guy on Bourbon once that was painfully obvious he was using "stolen valor". Makes absolutely no sense to me even more so when he wasn't a bad looking guy and there's plenty of blackout drunk chicks looking to make mistakes
YouTube videos of stolen valor are especially cringeworthy

It amazes me that people think they can get away with this stuff in this day and age

What does those guys stand to benefit anyway? Free meals or something?

You guys should post on USMB.com LOL so many people stealing valor over there that it isn't even funny.

Good question. I think they like the attention and people fawning over them telling them what great "heroes" they are. And I'm sure it gets them some free meals too.

Hate these guys. Want to make sure no one gets any of their richly deserved attention.

I know the reason for your post is to crucify FOX, so flail away. They deserve it. I just wish you were as concerned about the other networks not retracting their erroneous stories also - until forced to.

Why? What is the harm and danger they represent that they need to be punished by the state?

Especially the ones where people are certain it's "stolen valor" and they're wrong.

I'm not sure what the law says, but could using stolen valor to ask for donations be considered fraud? If you're just using it to get chicks, then you are just a dick. But if you are asking people to give you money, I consider that to be different.
Either way, it is disrespectful to actual veterans, and the military people I know do not like it. So, I will side with them on the issue.

Fox (Faux) News has a greater history of it. And there's no question about it. Fox is a complete joke as far as pretending to be a non-biased "news" network. It was created for one reason and one reason only. And it has been that since it's inception.
