Former state Sen. Bodi White quits as aide to Jeff Landry

Former state Sen. Bodi White has quit as Gov. Jeff Landry’s legislative liaison after a staffer to Landry lied to him about financing for a bill and that in turn caused White to provide misinformation to a senator and former colleague, he said Tuesday.
“I can’t work with people who make me lie,” White said, referring to Lance Maxwell, Landry’s chief legislative liaison. White had been working for Maxwell since Landry became governor in January.
quote:
White said the trouble in the Capitol began on Wednesday when he advised Sen. Glen Womack, R-Harrisonburg, that House Bill 114, which the governor wanted, carried a $336,000 cost. White said he wanted to make sure Womack knew this because Womack chairs the Senate Finance Committee and would need to make sure that it received funding.
HB 114 by Rep. Les Farnum, R-Sulphur, would require an annual canvass of registered voters to ensure that everyone on the rolls is properly there. This bill is a priority for Landry after then-Gov. John Bel Edwards, his predecessor, vetoed a similar measure three times for fear that it would remove active voters from the rolls who simply hadn’t voted recently.
White said that Maxwell told him the House had provided the money for HB 114. But having served as chair of the Finance Committee for the past four years, White checked himself and found that the House hadn’t funded it.
He said he and Maxwell had a heated conversation, and then he quit.

Landry is swamp scum. I think it's hilarious that posters on this board think he's great.

Dude, you were all in on John Bel, Biden, etc. You should sit this one out.

So many of them were defending him on here, leading up to the election too, and if you weren’t on board with Landry, then you were just a JBE/Biden loving Democrat.

Landry is an extreme upgrade over JBE.
We live in a shite state, economically, education, etc etc. Trying to run the hell hole is a nightmare from an economic standpoint.
Hes doing fine with the longterm vision to clean it up

I didn’t vote for Landry but I want Louisiana to purge its voter rolls of dead people.
Guess who wasn’t doing that? Edwards.

Because that’s gonna fix the states economic, infrastructure, education, and crime problems right there. Another social conservative political issue, which seems to be all Landry cares about.

Look for Bodi to have a job in St. George

I wouldn’t call him an extreme upgrade. The only upgrade is he isn’t a Democrat, but as we all know when it comes to politicians in this state, Dems and Republicans are all the same, corrupt, power hungry thieves. An extreme upgrade would be voting in someone from outside the good ole boy system, which is a risky thing to do, but I don’t understand what’s wrong with taking such a big risk in this state lol. We got nothing to lose at this point, and I could argue there was an opportunity last election.

It sure is. So maybe it’s way past time to go outside the box for who we vote into political office here.

I don’t agree with that. His long term vision seems to be regressing back to the same old Louisiana conservative BS.

A lot of people don't realize Landry helped John Bel get elected to his second term. He helped behind the scenes. He wanted to be Governor so badly and knew he was going to run when he did. Landry didn't want to have to try to run against an incumbent Republican governor. Pluse, JBE and Landry have a lot of the same trial lawyer pals. I know a lot of people here think that is bullshite, but it's not.

Bodi did a lot of good things for SG, but to be honest, he's been in government long enough. It's time to find something else to do.

Landry is a jacksss just like JBE was a jackass. 2 different political parties, 2 different philosophies. But both are pieces of frickin trash.
Sorry to sound like a centrist, but if you bash Landry you gotta bash dumbass JBE too otherwise posters on this board will use that to deflect from the fact that the Republican in charge is a stooge just like the Democrat that was in charge.

Yep. I didn't vote for him. But anyone that adores JBE doesn't really have a leg to stand on here.
I can forgive a lot if Landry successfully gets that bridge built (or at least construction started) in Lake Charles and Baton Rouge, helps improve our economy, improves safety/fights crime, and rips public schools away from the teacher unions....
But yeah him being at odds with other republicans from my region is a very big red flag. Not saying I like Bodi White, but there is a lot of smoke with Landry that may go beyond just the general "anti-republican" bullshite from The Advocate or the typical democrat shills.

Landry endorsed the sham Freeport McMoran coastal lawsuit “settlement”, for which the framework will do little to actually help the parishes, but it will enrich the lawyers!
