In an incident caught on video, a former Colorado State Patrol trooper said he was handcuffed in front of his 6-year old daughter on a near-empty softball field Sunday by Brighton police officers enforcing social distancing rules. The department apologized Tuesday afternoon, calling the incident an "overreach by our police officers."

Matt Mooney, 33, told ABC News he walked with his wife and daughter from their home to a nearby park Sunday to play softball.

"We're just having a good time, not near anybody else. The next closest person is at least 15 feet away from me and my daughter at this point," Mooney told ABC News.

And the sheep wonder why we're questioning the Medical "experts" whose continually wrong projections are responsible for this mass-hysteria......

"Cops won't ever try and take our guns!"

Just like they won't ever arrest you for just being outside, right?

I’m supposed to care more because now it’s a former cop?

this guy could have identified himself and not been arrested

the fact that he did not is awesome; he took a stand for average people and deserves kudos

Odd that you never see headlines about "Former cashier" or "Former accountant".

frick the police. I'm not going to put my wife on the front of the car like a hood ornament just so we both can go to the store while maintaining a six foot distance between us.

A couple got sited out here in San Diego for sitting in their car (windows up) watching the sunset at the beach.

It is over the top ridiculous

I don’t know if the officers where told to act this way, or chose to do this on their own, but regardless, it’s a crummy display of overzealous power. And that’s not even taking into account that the park sign allowed the man’s behaviors.

I’ve been blasted on here for years when I say cops and portions of the military would turn on the American civilian populace in a second if ordered.

They are going to comply with orders because they need the job and the money.

This has happened over and over again throughout history.

It's not just following orders and collecting a paycheck.

It's a power trip that they get drunk on.

There's tools everywhere. I still don't believe that your typical uniformed police officers would follow gun confiscation orders. You need to come up with brown shirts or the gestapo to get that done.

Won’t be long until there is a shooting related to one of these.

So, he was social distancing and then the police..instead of telling him to head on back home that the park was closed.....decided to rub up on him while cuffing.

Spectacular, I feel safer.

Thats exactly what i was thinking. Nothing against the officer. Just, you know, its nice to see that laws are okay to be broken, based on the situation, and who it is thats breaking the law.
