I had asked another poster here to give me his best case for being for open borders, but he hasn't responded yet. Can't call out a particular poster, so this is for anybody here who is basically in favor of an open border policy.
What's your rationale?

Besides the economic benefits, it will decrease the number of illegal immigrants in the US.

I'm in the middle of my commute home and have some shite to do tonight but once I have time I'll check back in and bump this thread if it's dead.

Obviously.
And let's not forget keeping jobs on American soil rather than outsourcing them to other nations.

Cheaper labor= higher economic output= lower prices

Who is for "open borders"?
No one here advocates for that. Libertarian economists sometimes do, but that's about it.
When I see someone use "open borders," I know they are pushing propaganda.
Not wanting to deport everyone doesn't mean that people advocate for open borders.

The problem is when you flood the labor supply in a macro sense, everyone's wages go down except those doing the employing of the illegals.

I wish the US would have Gestapo style task forces that deport the shite out of people. And I'm talking way more aggressive and proactive than ICE.

I'm for a pre 1960 border policy.

Fair enough.
Post that illustration you posted yesterday, I don't agree with it, but it's kind of cool.

Hi kct. I volunteer to answer for our would-be global masters over at the WTO.
If your objective is unification of north America it makes perfect sense.
So did obamas urge for us to learn spanish.

I think losh does. I didn't call him out, but he's weighed in now. He can tell us if my assessment of what he posted yesterday meant he is for open borders.
Seemed that way to me.

Because, dammit, we NEED more illiteracy, disease and crime in this country!

There is no evidence that immigration lowers wages. It doesn't make economic sense, either. The story you're trying to sell is that immigration shifts supply curves right, while keeping demand the same, thus lowering equilibrium wages. That's an incomplete story.
Lower wages per unit allow for greater TOTAL aggregate income, which leads to increase in demand for goods, thus an increase in demand for labor to supply the goods

I'd rather learn Mandarin. If a Westerner can speak Mandarin, they're treated like a rock star in China.
Look how crazy they were over Arabella.
