The sacrament of marriage is clearly being flouted!

I'm 25 and married. I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Looking at our single friends of the same age though, I can see why the single life is appealing.

The browning of America will lead to our downfall. The majority of blacks, Latinos, and Arabs simply don't believe in the traditional American ideals of individual liberty and free market Capitalism that spawned from those of Western Europeam descent. And they are the fastest growing demographics. But hey it's our own fault because we are in control...we should stop subsidizing poor decisions that in turn encourage procreation among the impoverished.

Marriage is a great institution, and it behooves our society, and society in general, to promote it. Family law has really dealt a blow to the tradition in this country. Ideally, people should marry without any tangible fear of having their lives and bank accounts ruined by divorce for superficial reasons ("I'm not in love with you anymore" is a superficial reason for divorce, by the way), yet literally every person my age and younger has to weigh that possibility seriously, and it's why so many of us are choosing not to get married. It's a shame.

This problem is more severe than it appears on the surface. The people who are marrying and breeding are folks that don't have western blood in them.

I envy you. I'm a good bit older than you; anytime I've been in a situation where marriage was realistic, I've resisted. The commitment, I'm sure you know, is a tall order, and the likelihood of a marriage lasting is a lot smaller than it used to be.

Good post. I agree. No-fault divorce has ruined certain aspects of marriage overall and been an overall detriment on our society. And we can't go back now.

Marriage and the traditional nuclear family (although I am not suggesting it is right for every person) formed (past tense) the foundation of western civilization. It has been cast aside over the past 50 years - pretty much coinciding with my lifetime, to no good end.

The developing world has not stopped making children. The developed world has - to the point where those of European ancestry are reproducing at below the replacement rate. This dynamic will define change and conflict for another 75 years or so, until we reach a new equilibrium.

What about those who are breeding without marrying? Don't they make up a significant number?

Perfect youtube for this post.

When a young man says "I do" (for the first time) he has NO CLUE about what he's signing up for. When that pretty young gal, a divorce lawyer, and a progressive judge perform public vivisection on you, you'll know what I mean.

I want grandkids, but I've told both sons it's OK with me if they never marry. If they must marry, make sure the woman puts as much in the pot as they do. I've got a 52 y/o cousin who had to move back in with his parents after a nasty divorce. Get this: The bitch wanted the judge to proclaim she (not the kids) would be the sole beneficiary on his life insurance policy in case he committed suicide.

Yep. We are sacrificing our civilization at the altar of so-called free love.
Women wonder where all the good men have gone when men really just woke up one day and realized they don't have to be good to get what they want.
Meanwhile men wonder why women seem so fickle and untrustworthy now.

As the old saying goes, "Pussy can pull a freight train," but when it's free, why buy the cow?

Just think, if everyone would let gays get married, that may not be the case.

No, it would still be the case. Gays don't really want to get married in any mass number.
