For African-American Wellbeing, Look To Jobs, Not Big Government

According to the U.S. Census Bureau and the Minnesota Population Center, the demographic research arm of the University of Minnesota, among the 12 most-populous states, African-Americans in Texas enjoyed the second-lowest Supplemental Poverty rate in the most recent two years reported (North Carolina had the lowest rate of poverty). Unlike the Official Poverty Measure, the Supplemental Poverty Measure considers differences in the cost of housing between the states as well as accounting for non-cash government assistance, such as food aid and housing subsidies—forms of income for the poor that the Official Poverty Measure has always ignored.

Not surprisingly, African-Americans in the Lone Star State have the second-highest employment rate among adults, ages 24 to 64, barely edged out by number one Virginia, with 70.8 percent of adults of prime working age holding down a job in Texas.
Property Taxes suck but there's more

And, as would be expected with jobs and strong families, 47 percent of black Texans own their own homes, far above the 37 percent in California and 32 percent in New York, and better than the national average.

Contrary to critics who claim Texas needs more taxes, more spending, and bigger government, Texas’ example shows that liberty, low taxes and smaller government encourage job growth and that the dignity and pride of work strengthens families and improves wellbeing for all Americans.
Blacks here also have the highest rate of intact married households and graduation rates.
Tell your local politicians to get their shite together.

Spoon feeding people is not the answer. Can't seem to get people to understand that.

Doesn't matter the migrants from California and immigrants from south of the border are turning Texas blue.
Democrats can't help ruining everything

Ahhhhhhh, the good ole U, studying black folks while living in a state with about 2 black neighborhoods.
I keep hearing about Texas turner blue. Shouldn't FL be ahead of us on that, but Trump won it by more than Bush did.
All that assumes continued unfettered immigration.

Actually closed on my house a year ago this past Saturday. Mortgages blow, but it beats renting for us at this stage in life.

Be 2 years for me in March. Interest can't stay down forever so folks better get it while they can.
