A federal judge on Monday allowed President Trump’s voting commission to go forward with seeking voter data from 50 states and the District, ruling that the White House advisory panel is exempt from federal privacy review requirements whatever additional risk it might pose to Americans’ information.

Kollar-Kotelly, who was appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1997, ruled against the Electronic Privacy Information Center, a watchdog group that sought to block the commission’s data request because the panel had not conducted a full privacy impact statement as required by a 2002 federal law for new government electronic data collection systems.

She concluded that although the watchdog group had the right to sue under the law for a privacy review, the commission was a presidential advisory panel, not a federal agency subject to the privacy law.

I won't lie, something about this makes me feel uneasy.

I kinda like the result, but

that seems really concerning.

You should...it's all because Trump is trying to convince us that 3-5 million people voted illegally.

Congress can expand the law to include advisory panels if they want to, couldn't they?

I mean, I guess it seems a bit goofy on its face, but so what?

I'd hope so. This ruling just seems very unnecessarily wonky, creating more questions than answers.

I guess it depends on how you want your taxes spent.

I personally think paying for a special team to investigate nothing because Trump said a stupid is, well, stupid

Hey, I don't want my tax money spent on pretty much anything, but if that's the standard we've got a lot to go after.

He doesnt have to convince me. California automatically registers to vote every drivers license applicant. Illegal aliens are permitted to get drivers licenses.

Common sense tells me there are millions of illegal immigrants on the voter rolls in California. Care to take a guess on how many voted since voter ID is not required in CA?

I seem to recall dems losing their shite after the election, claiming Russian interference and recounting swing states.

You should be happy your president is listening.

Mueller is not fbi. He is a former director, but his role is independent from the ic.

He is a special counsel appointed by the doj who serves at the behest of the trumpster. Just like this comission, really.

Wait. So Trump says 3 million illegals voted for Hillary. The left goes apoplectic and demands he proves it. He says ok. Now the left is pissed?

Once again, I think both are a waste of time and tax money
