I had never heard of this part of our American history until today which I saw only because I was watching some World War II history Youtube videos.

A short (2 minutes, 49 seconds) video of some of the proceedings.

The opening scene is the singing of the Star Spangled Banner

Another longer (7 minutes, 6 seconds) video of the same event.

Night at the Garden

Both videos look like something out of an alternative history-type movie. Chilling.

You’d never heard of this?

There’s an iconic photo. These fricks had the audacity to have a giant portrait of General George Washington looming over the proceedings.

The leader was deported and died in Germany. Fun fact he was on trial and held at Dachau before his death.

Also, Google Sir Oswald Moseley. He was handling things for the Nazis/Fascists over in Britain. They interned him during the war.

If you can find it, the 1939 film “Confessions of a Nazi Spy” tells the story. It was controversial at the time it was released because the major studios had an unwritten pact to not release films that might be deemed offensive to Nazi Germany.

From my limited reading, there were many prominent Americans sympathetic to the Nazis including Joe Kennedy.

He was an isolationist appeaser. As was Charles Lindbergh.

New York Reaches Settlement With Nazi-Linked Community on Long Island

This is also unbelievable but true. The land that the Nazi Summer Camp used to be on in Long Island was retained by the German American Settlement League which made a requirement to buy into the neighborhood that you are of German descent. This was in place until 2017!! Unfricking real. Very bizarre.

I had a chance to watch this not too long ago. It was pretty good and scarily accurate.

What would the attitude toward Nazism be if they had not started a war and had not murdered Jewish people?

You are confusing isolationism with Nazism.

Yeah, Turner Classic shows it every so often. I bought the DVD from their Vault Collection.

Jews wouldn't have anything to cry about for the next 75 years.
