So our orbit is both a football and a basketball at the same time? How can that be?

Wtf? You realize the second picture is a 3/4 overhead view, don't you?

So the Earth's orbit is a perfect circle after all?

Because temperature sure has plummeted.
This morning around 7 AM in Baton Rouge the weather was as good as it can get. Temp in low 60's, low humidity and not a cloud in the sky. I don't think I broke a sweat during my morning jog.

I'm on a search for the truth.

I need an uncontested control group of the Earths orbit.

Help a brother out.

I live in northern Indiana. We normally get a blanket of snow up here a few inches deep that lasts most of the winter.

This year I was feet and feet of snow. I want a blizzard that rivals the one people tell me about from 1979. I want to have to leave my house through the second story window to go to work because it is piled so high it blocks the door. I want mountains of snow.

Well, sorry, but if we had an easily accessible control for the earth, it wouldn't matter so much what we did to this one and we could just migrate.

Unfortunately, this is the only one we've got, so we have to make the best of it. If you want to make a mockery of the millions of man-hours that have gone toward studying the effects of what we do, then go ahead. But thankfully it seems that enough people realize that we should be more cautious about our actions, and we have a decent chance of not making life harder for future generations than it needs to be.

Who wold have thought a slight variation in the distance from the Sun would make such a change in climate?

Seasonal weather patterns are mostly caused by the 23.5-degree tilt of our planet's spin axis, not by Earth's elliptical orbit. We were at our most distant point in orbit from the Sun on July 3rd and ever since then we've been getting closer. The next perihelion (closest point of orbit to the Sun) should be on Jan 4th, 2015.

I want golf rounds like today at Huntington. Started off at 7 am with a temp of 57 wearing shorts and a long sleeve T. Made the turn at 64 and switched to a short sleeve. Ended the round at 10 am with a temp of 69.

Yeah, but if timespace is really expanding, we're hauling arse away from the sun and don't know it. Didn't think of that Mr 23.5 degree man, did ya?

I bet it is over 50% for the general public.

Besides we all know the season are due to the aliens

Dude, we're closer now than we were in the summer. Summer is when we're furthest away from the sun.
