Failure of minority cultures have made urban dwelling unfair to whites.

Forcing the hard working law abiding citizens to move away from violence, property crimes, drug addiction and failing schools and have to use their capital and resources to build new communities to exist in a safe environment.

Definitely more truthful than the asinine argument claiming the opposite, I refused to be blamed for any failures of the urban community and their educations, go to the library if you have to.

The gentrification in NOLA is something all cities should work towards. Of course, not all cities get a clean slate in certain areas like NOLA did because of Katrina but it can be accomplished. There are parts of Lake Charles that are slowly gentrifying and that will probably speed up as a new development that is going up in a questionable part of town continues to progress.

It is 20 degrees outside and I have to carry Sir Winston most of the way to the park so he won't get rock salt stuck in between his paw pads.

But I don't care - I welcome this weather because it means I don't have to make small talk and then get asked for a dollar by five black men in a four block radius.

ETA: The leftist war on gentrification is proof at how fricking stupid liberalism is. Gentrifiers are ALWAYS liberals. ALWAYS. There are 99 good things about gentrification and 1 "bad" thing (that is actually good). So dumb.

I thank god I rarely have to go downtown to the Shreveport courthouse, there aren't many bums but I can't stand pan handlers. They should be beat with a rubber hose.

I bet if we had a minority community organizer as president this wouldn't even be an issue.

I try ignoring them but I feel shitty about it, so I have to tell them what kind of dog he is (even though they don't give a shite and just want to segue into asking me about a dollar).

The soft racism of liberals is really weird too - they don't allow the homeless to panhandle in the Third Ward (warehouse district) or the East Side (lakefront condos) because those homeowners associations are more organized. So they are all kind of shuffled downtown to my hood (even though our property values are as solid and our taxes as high as any other area). So annoying.

Minorities need to stop blaming racism and start accepting responsibility for the way they are. Once they accept that they need to make changes, then we will make progress. But I don't see that day coming any time soon

This is been going on for a long time. My family moved to the suburbs 150 years ago when those dirty micks and eye ties showed up

Stout- I see gentrification happening in LC in some of the prettier parts, but what is the "new development "? Are you talking about one large project?

Where do you live?

so you consciously deny your captive sentient life form its natural right of its chosen exercise benefit?? tsk tsk.

How anti-compassion, anti-tolerance of you.

So you admit to unhealthy hoarding the benefits bestowed by your undeserved white privilege with those honest downtrodden souls whose distant ancestors suffered such inhumane treatment?

five black men in a four block radius.

So you are an unremitting racist deliberately entering the ghetto where you have confined these unfortunate souls for the sole purpose of flaunting your own white privilege-derived lucre?

[damn - this is easy.]

I can attest to this having lived in a small town that was an offshoot of a city. It had one of the highest median incomes in the state and they were building their own schools and bringing in business to support the community.

I can't remember the name right now but the one by McNeese farm. I always thought a development of that magnitude being put there was questionable but now as it grows I think it'll help continue to gentrify Oak Park and maybe do something about that neighborhood across from Walmart on 14.

Morgan Fields I believe. Suppose to be nice.

Yes -oak park area is one of the nicest laid out neighborhoods in the city. Sidewalks, nice oak trees, etc. It does need help with drainage though

If the government would stop welfare and proper punish the law breakers we would see a quick turnaround in the urban areas (I imagine in race relations in general too).

I wouldn't advise you come to Houston. Will be interesting to see how they're dealt with leading up to and during super bowl.
