ok - it was in the context of the right trying to appeal to the right.
To be fair, the extremes of both parties probably respond equally to extreme politics. - so nasty politics is not unique to either party.
My point was the middle, many of which dont live and breathe politics and are easily turned off by it. My opinion, of course.

But he's irrelevant now, which is good.
Sadly he is still very relevant to the far right kooks, and is given prominent air time on Fox. Just on a moment ago, speak of the devil.

It's disgusting what they did to Kerry.
Not nearly as disgusting as what Kerry did to the troops that were there when he was playing God in front of Congress. Frickin' worthless POS scumbag.

Have you read the entire transcript of his statement? I have, and it's not what Rove built it up to be.
Of course you haven't.

I am a little shocked by this

Could you do me a favor and link the transcript? I was in middle school during that election and recall Swiftboat being discussed but still do not know exactly what happened.

Presumptuous bastard, aren't you? I have read it in its entirety - several times. Years before Kerry even ran for the Presidency. I speak from first-hand experience of the overall negative effect it had. Kerry cashed in on the 3-and go home policy when he could have stayed. None of the practices he accused troops of was based on firsthand experience and his blanket comment about race in that testimony only added fuel to already existing racial chaos on the ground. Kerry was, and is an opportunist of the worst kind.

He didn't accuse. He read quotes from other soldiers. His number one goal was to bring our boys home.

And what did Bush do? Dodge serving in combat? Kerry volunteered for swift boat service.

Those "quotes from other soldiers" were the focus of virtually all media reports on his testimony. He knew they would be and that's why he exaggerated them. Atrocities happen in war, but to represent those acts as daily occurrences was irresponsible and intentional. His number one goal was making a name for himself, not "bringing the boys home". The great majority of the "boys" were not pleased with Kerry in that Spring of 1971, of that I can assure you.

As opposed to George W. Bush who cashed in on his CCR "I ain't no Senator's son… oh wait, actually I am!" perk of flying drunken and coked up sorties over the Rio Grande?

No, as opposed to others who suffered similar wounds and stayed their full tour.
I have made no mention of Bush at all so I have no idea what he has to do with Kerry's 1971 testimony.

Because this whole thread is about Rove's love of taking an opponent's strength and twisting it around to make the strength a weakness.
Mary Landrieu's biggest strength is her political clout, the committees she's on, and the relationships she's built in Washington DC over the past 18 years.
Rove is once again turning a candidate's strongest asset against him/her by bashing Mary's tight relationships in the Beltway. Relationships that regularly help LA.

It's the "Swift Boat" strategy. Kerry actually served in the Vietnam War, was injured several times, and somehow Rove made Bush the dodger the "hero" and Kerry the hero the "liar". Was incredible to watch. One of the most amazing political strikes in history.
It was fricking true what was said about Kerry. Dozens of guys over there said so.
