This is just an attempt by the lifelong politicians to help ensure only other lifelong politicians can be politicians. What business person is going to want to run for office if they have to divest themselves of their life's work?

Nobody is "surprised" that Trump has worldwide business holdings. There is no legal prohibition.
And no real remedy. Requiring he sell everything just to be president is a horrible precedent: "sorry if you built a company, you can't be president." These aren't just stocks he can list on the market. His name/brand is a big part of it. He would take huuuge losses. Trump Tower isn't worth as much if it doesn't have the Trump name.
NOW THAT SAID, yes this is an issue that voters should definitely keep an eye one. Just suspect it is more likely going to be an overblown democratic talking point, than a real issue of conflict of interest.
