What? So because districts are shifted occasionally, some should have no say? That's asinine.

I think he's more concerned about the effects of gerrymandering.

I am glad Trump won, but just going by the popular vote is probably the best, most rational way to go. State lines are arbitrary but if we use districts then A) they are manipulated and B) a lot of people are going to be in districts with predetermined outcomes.

Just go with whoever gets the most votes. Simple.

It is up to the individual states how they want to handle their representation in the electoral college.

We elect just about every office in the nation by popular vote. Only the EC remains as a non-democratic process for public office.

I don't expect Congress to propose an amendment to retire the EC, and I certainly hope we never use the gerrymandered-to-the-hilt Congressional districts to apportion EV's.

Again, since we aren't a Democracy, this makes sense.

We are blessed with the two party system.

It would be crazy to have a system like Italy or Israel or the Weimar Republic, where you have Christian Democrats and Social Democrats and whatever else parties.

Getting behind one of two parties is a system that works but would work bettter if more people bothered to participate.

kinda like why is the red states a different America as applied to the N/E and West coast? BTW- I'm a white fiscal conservative and a social liberal.

This would make a more convincing argument to those who don't vote, as now they may live in a true red or blue state, so they feel their like vote is pointless. However, if you lived in a red/blue state but in a competitive district then your vote becomes much more important.

The problem with this is you would see some hilariously ridiculous voting district lines.
