Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher, whose war-crimes case put the Navy on a collision course with President Trump, will retire and a planned review of his status has been canceled, the military branch has announced. The review could have led to Gallagher’s expulsion from the elite special-operations SEAL group, but he will now be allowed to keep his Trident pin. “He will retire from active duty,” Navy Commander Clay Doss said. “We will not provide additional details due to privacy concerns.”

Any word on the new SecNavy? Last one certainly isn’t signing off on this.

[quote]Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher, who was wrongfully accused of war-crimes, put the leftist politicians who are at the top echelon of the Navy on a collision course with President Trump, will retire and a planned review of his status has been canceled, the military branch has announced. The review (political hit job)could have led to Gallagher’s expulsion from the elite special-operations SEAL group, but he will now be allowed to keep his Trident pin, thanks to President Trump. “He will retire from active duty,” Navy Commander Clay Doss said. “We will not provide additional details due to the fact it will further highlight just how fricked up this whole situation was and that the Secretary of the Navy was a leftist pussy who should never of been in that position to begin with.."]

A great day for the US Navy. Enjoy retirement Chief Gallagher. Hope he writes a book. Would make a great movie.

Please no. The SEALS used to be "silent professionals" and they've clearly lost the handle on that to the point of it being detrimental.

What do retired SEALS do after?

I mean, their skills are pretty unique and illegal in most states.

Do they just go work at Bed, Bath and Beyond like the Other Guys?

As most of the SPECOPS community has generally been... It needs to get back to being in the "dark"...

The quick answer is, anything they want.

I would suspect some guys with this unique skillset would go into a form of security work.

Security Consultants. Take that anyway you like it.

I would normally agree on nixing the book, but Gallagher is hot, and may not get the opportunities that others would get in the private sector.

What does an infantryman or a canon cocker do after? There are a lot of military jobs that don't have many civilian analogs. IF they want to use their skillset they can work for security companies, law enforcement, defense contractors, etc.

A lot of people hire retired military just for their discipline and work ethic and they learn something completely unrelated to their military job. I know a SEAL who went to work for AT&T doing something with accounts.
