Carson's early announcement will allow him lead time to fund raise, and organize. He is an impressive, serious man. We'll know soon enough how serious a candidate he is.

Well said. The fact is, no one knows how he'll perform at this point. Those saying he has no chance are either scared or stupid.

Here's what Carson needs to do right now.

Form a think tank, not a political sub-party or pack but an actual group of people like Bill Cosby, Charles Barkley, Thomas Sowell, himself, other mostly blacks who have shown that not only is opportunity available to them but they can be extremely successful in entertainment, sports, professional pursuits all different areas of American life. Call it something like Coalition of Intelligent Blacks something without a direct political tie in.

When some azzclown like Sharpnot or Slo Charles Rangel makes a buttface comment about him they will simply call them on it and the blacks who can think for themselves will take note.

However, whether he has the organizational skills to translate those things into the functional, transformational policy people might expect remains an unanswered question. Same was true of Cain, across the board. Though frankly I find Carson far more thoughtful.

This. He needs amazing staffers and fund raising. The fund raising has already started.

My concern is that he won't be a big enough a-hole to do as well in politics as he has in everything else in life. I felt the same way about Romney- and he had more political experience.

There are a slew of more important issues but this IMHO immediate disqualifies him.

Obama believes the new deal ended the great depression. The earth only being 6K years old is a much more dependable position.

Additionally, has Carson ever commented on humanity's origins? No? Then shut the frick up.

Might not be the best for the job, but I think it would be an interesting move by Republicans to trot him out as the nominee. He's a very smart man.

I would vote for him if her were the R nominee.

You know we had a major party candidate run for President, right, and was one of the inspiring figures in the Reagan Revolution, and just happened to be Jewish?

And another was the most important, and arguably one of the most "honorable" members of the Nixon administration?

That's like saying, "There won't be a Mormon President", when the Senate Majority leader is Mormon and most recent Republican candidate are Mormons.

Oh, and Cantor was House Majority leader, for a term and a half - the second highest position in the House.

Just sayin...

He'll be branded an Uncle Tom by the minorities.

The NAACP, Reverends Al and Jesse will crucify him because he doesn't have the entitlement/reparations mentality. Just like they did Clarence Thomas.

Nothing new there.

Goldwater - depending on how you define him. His paternal grandfather was a Polish Jew, although he was raised in his mother's Episcopalian church.

Now, he had no matrilineal Jewish blood, and was not raised in the faith - but it's hard to deny Judaism walking around with a moniker like Goldwater.

Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina - redneck enough for you?

Kissinger,, still remember all the vilification from the left wing media he garnered, but he was kinda the "teflon presidents man". 90% of today's prog-leftist politicians aren't fit to shine Henry's shoes, for them their stupidity is a virtue among their followers. But I "hate jews" so obviously I can't like the guy...

I'll just go ahead and say 100% of the prog-leftists and 100% of the neocons as well.

One of the very, very rare political geniuses in public life - one of a handful of goverment officials who could have gone toe-to-toe with William F. Buckley, of any political persuasion.
