Do you think our president should bow to kings?

Or in anyway subjugate himself to any other world leader?
Obama and other past presidents have bowed to kings and queens. I don't thing the U.S. President should bow to anyone.

Presidents should always show respect and humility.
But never submission.

You weren't around for those threads where Obama was excoriated for this.

If as part of a state visit in their country and it is their custom I don't have a huge problem with it being done once as a show of respect for their traditions. Now if that same leader comes here? Hell no they should conform to our traditions.

Bowing in Asian cultures isn't a sign of subjugation. It's a sign of mutual respect. We aren't talking about kowtowing here.

Only if the King bows back.

No, it's not.
Bowing means one person is superior to the other. These kings would never bow to another world leader.
We don't require bowing to our president because he is just a man like everyone else, not a deity like some of these countries think.

If both bow to each other, I'm cool with it.

No one should ever bow in deference to another individual. Ever.
In the most basic of ways title and position doesn't somehow make one more significant than another.
We no longer believe these leaders are in place due to divine will.

No, we don't "require" bowing because it isn't part of our culture. If you travel to Japan or Korea and see people bowing to you, it doesn't mean they are subjugating themselves to you're super huge white penis.

I'm mainly talking about world leaders.
I personally would have no problem bowing if that was the culture.

So should other world leaders refuse to shake Obama's or Trump's hands and look them in the eye while they do so, since that's a sign of mutual respect among men in our culture and could be construed as "subjugation" by internet trolls in their home country?

I have no problem with mutual respect. Does the Saudi king bow back?

It's the equivalent to a handshake.
Only small-dicks think this is some sort of submission

There's protocol and decorum. And then there's overdoing it. I believe that BHO overdid it in Japan several years ago when he bowed to nearly a 90 degree angle and shook the hand of the prime minister. That drew an uproar.
A simple, curt bow in certain cultures (generally eastern Asian) is appropriate as a greeting and does not exhibit subjugation. Nearly licking someone's shoes does. Bowing should not be offered as a greeting in cultures where hand-shaking is widely accepted as a form of formal greeting, or when a hand is first offered to the President for shaking. And I don't believe that you're supposed to bow and shake hands; it's one or the other.
ETA: I do not believe that the President should ever bow to a Western or Middle Eastern leader. In the West, handshaking is the common form of formal greeting. In the Middle East, bows may be taken as subjugation.

Yeah, but like Bruce Lee would do it.
Ever so slight lowering of the head and torso with eyes firmly affixed on the person in front of you.
