The dems are brilliant to pass this. They'll get a ton of support. Especially right now while everyone is pissed at the repubs for the Healthcare nonsense and the the isp nonsense.

They just need a better way to test for intoxication.

The breathalyzer wasn't mass produced and perfected until it was needed.

If this gets passed or something similar to it I would consider this administration a success. BUT with Sheriff Refer Madness at the helm I seriously doubt it.

GOP should use this as leverage. Agree to pass this bill in exchange for passing complete repeal and replace (not the shite ahca, real reform) Both are popular measures

frick that.

How about they just do what they're suposed to do and pass a bill that helps the country regardless of party instead of using it as a division and bargaining tactic

So, are we going to develop a reliable test for THC intoxication and charge people driving high for DUI? If so, let's do this.

Why didn't they do this when they had filibuster-proof majorities?
This is a very fair question. That was 6 or 7 years ago now, and national opinion really has swung quickly on this (like with gay marriage).

So you are admitting the Field Sobriety Test is unreliable? Let's get behind doing away with this, let's do this!

It's for testing alcohol intoxication, so why would it be reliable for different type of substance?

Regardless, the field sobriety test isn't used to determine BAC. It is simply used to help police decide whether or not to arrest a driver and administer a breathalyzer at the jail.

well you'd need to convince mitch mcconnell before it could be voted on and then it would be up to paul ryan to put it on the legislative agenda in the house.

this isn't going anywhere.

i guess we love the federal government regulating marriage just not pot.

Fed gov't to treat weed like alcohol.

Legally need license to distill alcohol and pay excise tax. If not off to fed prison.
No home distillation eguals no weed in backyard or closet! Or off to fed jail.
Can't wait to see ATMF (alcohol tobacco marijuana and firearm) agents busting illegal growers!

that's what they're not thinking through. that's the thing that through a wrench into ohio's law they wanted to grant a handful of growers monopoly status. they'll want to regulate the level of THC. by the time they're done regulating and taxing it it'll be more expensive than booze.

wait until monsanto gets a hold of it and fills it full of fish genes!

This is posturing. Dems know this will fail as many RINOs are owned by private prisons, and LE lobbies.

Obama did nothing to further this and you never heard a peep from dems so dems bring it up now knowing this will fail so they can have a "we tried" moment to run on in 2 years.
