I'm not defending what the guy said. I'm saying that taking that out of context so that it can be made part of the Democrats hate Republicans (and, of course, Republicans hate Democrats) public discussion is bullsh!t.

I get what you are saying I think. Sadly media as a whole is shite, and this is what they do. We both can agree to not like it.

You didn't watch it, then. He was not cut off in the middle of a thought. (Did he even have one) The last thing he said was, "We shouldn't be discussing this in public."
Had he said something that was not offensive, why would someone else call him out on it...then as the Democratic Party said in their news Release "and took the mic again to apologize," In other words, he finished, sat down, then when called out on it, got back up and took the mic again. If he did nothing wrong, why did he feel the need to apologize..ONLY AFTER HE WAS CALLED ON IT?

Because what he said really was not offensive, and everyone didn't really laugh? You're going to get dizzy with all that spinning you are doing.

Instead you try to spin it that it was edited, and he did nothing wrong? Why the apology? Why was he called out on his words by another Democrat? The Democrat that called him out on his words was the only one at the event with any integrity.

Again. It was sponsored by the Party you identify with. ONE person objected to it. One. Well, more objected to it once it was made public. Had this video not become public only one person would have objected to it. That said, I would find it hard to believe that this was the only video made at this gathering.
Seems like the Democrats would make the entire video public to give some perspective. Or maybe they just don't want to discuss this in public?

If you can't see how what you posted, which from the opening sentence attempted to frame the conversation around value judgements, moral failings, and group caricaturing, I am not sure what repeating myself will do?
Lets try this, lets concede all of what you say is true, what now? What was the purpose? What does this incident prove to you? Why is proving this to be the correct narrative important to you? What does that achieve?

but rather than abandoning the Democratic party (and the 2 party system), I'd rather that sane minds reclaim that party. We need plurality for this country to be great.
I suppose a viable alternative party could be an option; offhand, does anyone know what happened to cause the Whigs to dissolve as a factor? I'm not saying restore the Whigs, I'm asking how did their leverage transfer over to another party? We may need to push something like that again.
