I wish we could push back to the authoritarian wave that seems to be popular now. In this sense, even traditional American right and left wingers seem like centrists.

The left and the media have always pretended those things never happened. And when forced to even acknowledge that some of them did happen(Dallas and Br cop murders) they made excuses for the criminals and did everything in their power to cast them as lone wolves or isolated incidents. So yes, they're going to continue to pretend they never happened.

What worries me is that Antifa type people are much more mainstream to the left than the alt-right is to the right. The KKK is shunned by the right. Antifa types are allowed to control college campuses and are ignored if not tacitly supported by democratic politicians and the media. Antifa are never called out for being violent. Instead the are called protestors instead of rioters. You can literally watch a burning campus behind a reporter claiming it is a peaceful protest.

This post actually hits the nail on the head for the most part. The extremists are veering into uncharted insanity on both sides. The moderates and sane republicans and democrats need to somehow pull the far ends back towards the center. How? I have no idea at this point. It starts at the top though and we need to find a cure for the madness.

As an example, leftist kooks tried to stop Dennis Prager from guest conducting the Santa Monica orchestra,tonight or tomorrow I think.
Dennis Prager is as benign as he can possibly be but since he is smart and conservative I guess he is "dangerous".

And of course, you have the President tweeting away daily about unbalanced media coverage with of course no mention of the unbalanced coverage to his benefit.
Crying on Twitter again today. No action to quell any of this unrest. Certainly no action taken towards unification.
Do I think he's at least somewhat complicit in all of this. Yes, even if not totally intentional his mere presence has emboldened these groups. They are 100% his base, even if he would rather not be (publicly) associated. And of course, that also emboldens groups like Antifa and BLM. It's a vicious cycle.
This civil unrest has to be quelled. 98% of Americans, no matter their political leanings are nowhere near these extremes and want nothing to do with this shite. If it takes a military/police intervention to do it, then so be it. Trump was supposed to be this no nonsense, badass with 10 lb balls. Put a stop to it. Be a leader
