Your question was “if he’s under investigation already why do they need a FISA warrant” the answer is that warrants are required for surveillance and this particular type of warrant is required to be renewed every 90 days; hence the renewal application.

It isn't about Page, its about who Page is talking to. They weren't unmasking the shite out of Trump officials swept up in foreign surveillance because they were super concerned with what the Russian ambassador was up to. They wanted to know what Trump was up to.
This is political. Plain and simple. Why else conceal the DNC and Clinton connections from the FISA court? Why else would people like Strozk be using burner phones to talk about HRC?

Lol, the IC really doesn't want the Papadopoulos stuff to be talked about in hearings. They were actively trying to manufacture that one, sending agents at him, trying to set him up, trying to give him marked bills so they could catch him at the airport. If their contention is there was no bias or intent in opening these investigations, they don't want to be talking about Papadopoulos

Wrong. The Russian Collusion investigation relied largely on the Dossier. Page was being wrongly surveilled prior to that but that Page was being surveilled added to the investigation as well.
That Mueller's team did not find/expose this astounds me almost as much as how the media has been silent on pointing out that fact.
