From the day I was elected to Congress, I promised myself I'd never allow money to influence the decisions I make on behalf of the people who elected me to serve them. Furthermore, I've refused to accept contributions from industries like Wall Street banks, Big Pharma, Tobacco, Liquor, and, more recently, Defense. However, from here on out, I've made the decision not to accept money from any political action committees. Here's the bottom line: we cannot allow the future of our nation and our politics to be driven and shaped by special interests. I believe in the power of the people and our ability to take action toward a brighter future. When we are informed, involved, and working together toward a common goal, we are more powerful than any special interest group. Obviously, not all PACs or lobbyists have nefarious purposes. I've appreciated the support I've received from organizations and PACs doing important work on behalf of women, our environment, labor, veterans, civil rights, and many more. My decision is not a reflection on those who are doing important work. It's simply a positive action that I can take to highlight and empower what's most important: YOU. Mahalo for your support and allowing me the privilege of serving you.

Good for her. If she's not in favor of special interests, then she might as well remove the D from beside her name.

Outstanding.
Now if every other politician would do that the government would once again be for the people instead of for big business.

Props to her. Did she ever take wall street money?

Sure, because those with an R beside their name don't take money from lobbyists

It would be better if all the D's and R's were removed.

I'm glad she's doing this but she is still in lock step with her party and not with the people.
BTW, IWHI.

Is this her way of saying she doesn't want to be re-elected?
But seriously, it would be great if all politicians didn't take money from lobbyists and PACs, but as long as some do, they will have an advantage over those that don't.

As long as she has a D before her name in Hawaii she's not losing any re-election. Zero chance.

She must have found some other source of funding.

And that is exactly why she can take this stance. She is a lifer from a mindless state.

The dem candidate in 2020. They will funnel her money secretly no doubt. This is the new dem plan so their candidate appears as an outsider.

I like her.
She is sexy and has some good points on policy. I'm mean Bannon loves her so I have to follow orders.
