Globally, 2016 is expected to be the hottest on record -- breaking the record set in 2015, which broke the record from the year before that. (Breitbart News and others are cherry picking data to tell you otherwise.) In all, scientists say humans have warmed the planet about 1 degree Celsius since around the time of the Industrial Revolution. This heat, which we're causing by burning fossil fuels and trapping warmth in the atmosphere, is contributing to a host of dangerous weather around the world. A flood this August in Louisiana, for example, killed 13 people. Scientists say that event was made 40% more likely -- and 10% more intense -- because of climate change.

That whole paragraph is gold but love how they are now taking jabs at Breitbart.

They sho is angry

Pay attention to our editorial choices, which try to influence how you think. Don't pay attention to others' editorial choices, which try to influence how you think.

Which one of these scientists predicted the flood? The only thing you will see is generality. Over the next century we"ll see more hurricanes, floods, etc statements. Well that's a nice no shite since we had that in the 20th century, 19th century etc. They even get the winters wrong. Twice in the last few years we were suppose by their predictions to have "unseasonably" warm winters. One had the Mississippi being flooded due to the massive snow melting in that no so warm winter then the second I had to chisel ice off my car for about hour.

When these scientists actually can accurately predict instead of often being not just wrong but opposite with their predictions, we can talk but until then they need to have a Coke and smile.

The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in the period from about 1760 to sometime between 1820 and 1840.

If the Earth's temp climbed "about" 1 degree since 1760 is this bad considering this period followed "the Little Ice Age"?

quote:

The Little Ice Age (LIA) was a period of cooling that occurred after the Medieval Warm Period.[1] While it was not a true ice age, its term was introduced into scientific literature by François E. Matthes in 1939.[2] It has been conventionally defined as a period extending from the 14th to the 19th centuries,[3][4][5] or from about 1300[6] to about 1850,[7][8][9] but climatologists and historians working with local records no longer expect to agree on either the start or end dates of the period, which varied according to local conditions.

Wonder if those are the same ""Scientists"" who predicted the Arctic would be ice-free in 2013?

so the heat of combustion is what's causing global warming?

That's some real science right there!

I was told it was due to the interstate wall preventing natural flow

As the late Michael Crichton loved to point out, people have been trying to predict weather since the start of computers and they still can't do that more than a few days out with any certainty.

Even with what we had now, who predicted that LA would get more precipitation in 2 days than some parts of the country would get all year?

If they can't predict that shite than how can they predict longer term trends with any certainty? They are having to adjust their model every year because it is never as accurate as they say it is.

Scientists say.

They love using that phrase. Science isn't about political majority concensus. It's about truth. Galileo, CP, whomever...One guy goes against the establishment...Or discovers something.

CNN would have an article in the 14th century that read: Scholars, Philosophers and Astronomers say the Earth is the center of the Universe...

"Unfortunately, uneducated bigots disagree with this scientific community concensus and overwhelming evidence of a geocentric Universe."

Funny, we still have the Inquisitions today and people still get professionally crucified for challenging majority rules Kabala. You commit professional suicide if you don't follow the gospel and orthodoxy of the Left.

I'll bet that these "scientists" that they are referring to all work under some bullshite gov grant. And because of their "findings", they think they should get more tax $ to continue their research...

All I'll say is evidence indicates warming from CO2 is a possibility. Anyone who dismisses outright is a partisan hack. It can't be disproven just like it can't be proven.

Does it mean we need to dramatically alter our economy and tax everything? No. does it mean we should start to consider the consequences of that possibility being correct? Absolutely.

If these scientists were so good, why didn't they predict that the La flood would be intensified by the fortification of I-12? Building a 6 foot containment wall sure didn't help. Seems like scientists could figure that out.

Yet didnt

The earth will warm, the earth will cool. Sea levels will rise, then they will fall. Then they will cool/fall and warm/rise all over again.

20k years or so is a long time, but if people are still around then they might thank fossil fuels for potentially slowing the sheets of ice spreading down into North America, as well as other places across the world. Making large areas uninhabitable and incapable of agriculture.

If we get to mars before WWIII it won't matter I guess.

Would these same scientists say that human gender is 'fluid'? Would they also agree that babies are not alive until they pass through a magical vagina?
