Absolutely happened. There was never any doubt in anyone's mind. Even the people acting like the President was making things up knew he was right all along. They just assumed nothing would ever come out to make them look foolish.

Well was it illegal or not in the context/setting?
If it was, why isn't anyone being prosecuted or strung up by their manginas in a public square? For all of Trump's bluster, you'd think he'd go after these people with the quickness - deep state or not.

It isn't quite that easy. Trump can't get his people in anywhere. The DOJ is still 99% obama holdovers.
The deep state is using non stop attacks to prevent people from being able to do their jobs like replace folks within the government AND also make people scared to take a job working for trump.
Right now all the holdovers are making sure no trump supporters get hired in all the positions below them. This will drag out a long time.

Trump underestimated the deep state.
He should have had loyal people ready to go and fired everyone within 3 levels of an agency head at every department on day one. If the Senate wouldn't confirm those choices that needed confirming then just let those people serve temporarily..
