That's misleading.

If we count US investors / institutions / state governments / federal agencies separately, China would not be #2.

It's also worth pointing out that China owns $1.3T in US debt, but Japan also owns $1.1T in US debt.

China isn't as powerful as they were a year or two ago. Xi is pushing a Miaoist ideal and their economy is slowing down.
