So we won’t be 50th in everything anymore?

So NOLA will finally be competitive with the other big metros in the South?

People would have to want to move there first. That's not happening.

Georgia had a massive influx of white libs. Something Louisiana and Mississippi don’t have and will never have. Good luck Jimmy.

One good thing about living in a shitty state is liberal transplants aren’t flocking here

Mississippi’s population is too spread out. If the black population of the state wasn’t mostly concentrated in one of two places; the delta(poor spread out) or the capital(poor densely populated for us) then it might be a viable strategy.

Carville would serve La. better if he actually tried to improve things rather than work year round at getting Dems elected.

This. You don't have a major metro area to ballot harvest.

Carville is not wrong. LA has a 33% black population that monolithically vote Democrat in any and every election. If D's can consistently get high turnout from that group you are looking at anywhere from 25% - 30% support for the D candidate in every statewide election before a single white person even votes. At that point Democrats probably only need to get about 2 or 3 of every 10 white people to vote Democrat. That doesn't seem to be a terribly high bar. In fact, 8 years of JBE as Governor in an otherwise "red" state has shown enough white people can and will vote D if the circumstances are right.

This is a big reason I'm not particularly in favor of John Kennedy running for Governor...even though I think he would probably be the most accomplished candidate. Kennedy as Governor would open the door for JBE to make a Senate run. Given a statewide election put him in office, TWICE, does anyone have confidence the state would not give him another victory again? I don't.

Landry is a buffoon. But I do think he would allow the near supermajority GOP LA legislature the cover to ram through whatever they wanted. Is that a great way to govern? Ideally no. There are many viewpoints in a state of 4.5 million people. But given Democrats have no hesitancy to ram their agenda through by any means possible (just see the pandemic as an example) "compromise" simply doesn't seem to be an option on the table right now.

Johnny Dupree barely got over 25% of the vote here on the coast... going to take a lot more than hopes and unicorn farts to give Dems any hope in Mississippi.

In other words, focus on the places with lots of black people.
