I'm with you there. One of those newer words that annoy me. Bc I'm getting crotchety the older I get.

Just following your own logic

No. And I'm for decriminalization, lament the fact that Sessions is AG, and think that the current drug enforcement paradigm fuels the cartels more so than any other factor.
I still think most potheads' arguments are funny or dumb however.

Well then what are your very smart reasons for wanting it decriminalized?

They will have to grow it all in greenhouses. It'll be giraffe arse high. Maybe we can at least legalize commercial growth for export? C'mon Trump.
Let us grow your weed, canada!

I can live with that. Regulation is ok. Just can't accept arresting people for it.

I don't care about the legalization of Marijuana debate.
I would say though that holding up Canada's laws as a model for the US is NOT something I would be bringing up.
They also have a legal age of consent there of 14.
Now they will be able to attract the stoned pedophiles.
Come to think of it Stoners do love them some Pizza too.
Edited: They raised it to 16. (With caveats that someone 1 day less than 5 years older can still have sex with 14 year olds)

Maybe so, but that financial carrot has to be there for the politicians and many voters.

CBD could be a viable option for cancer treatment

Because it's not that bad for you especially if it's not smoked, has some medicinal properties in certain, very narrow applications, and banning it drives up violent/organized crime. And part of the irony in it being a gateway drug is that it normalizes the use of a drug dealer for people who wouldn't otherwise do that.
I want people to give real reasons not "but we could like tax the shite out of it and fix the economy lol" or "bro it's just a plant man and 90% of white collar professionals do it daily wtf lol".

At a reduced level though for sure. I think longer term legalization would be the goal but there is likely that interim period by which the "muh children"/"Jesus didn't turn water into weed" crowd gets acclimated.

Should have scheduled it for April 20th.

Being a plant alone isn't a great reason, true. The plant aspect is important to counter the Bible thumpers who seem to think god made a mistake that man must correct.
I just called it a plant bc that's what it is.

yeah sometimes you need to move in baby steps to normalize shite before you can take a bigger step

I think ripping the bandaid off would be the best approach. Studying the states where it's legal for recreational use to build national policy should be done. Most nations around the world have outlawed it because of us.

And for this group, the counter is that god made plants before he made humans and god doesnt make mistakes.

quote:I'm not so sure about that tbh. If you decriminalize then demand will probably increase but the supply will still be illicit. That sounds like a net benefit to organized crime.
At a reduced level though for sure.
Also there are some places in the South that have had decrim since the 70s (MS, NC) and it hasn't really moved the needle any faster there as far as I know.
