Movement is all about?

Apparently some in my family are convinced it's essentially a new sect of the Aryan Brotherhood.

So what's it all about?

Left - all the racist, misogynists, anti-semites, and homophobes

Right - people that hold mostly conservative views that aren't traditionally republican and are tired of Kasich, McCain, Graham, Romney type of republicans.

Right - Weaponized autists and meme fiends

Left - The most evil force on earth since the Brownshirt. Never mind the Brown Blouses that were deployed during the election for Hillary.

alt.right is a completely fabricated term made up by the Left to use as a dog whistle to brand their political enemies to be KKK supporters. They can't call every political enemy a Nazi KKK supporter without losing credibility, so, they invented the "alt.right" tag.

Blow the system up. Mad at Republicans. Mostly fringe elements... populists, nationalists, racists.

This does sound like Trump voters, but Trump voters just happen to agree with the populism and nationalism and not the racism, by and large.

define alt country - it's impossible

People obsessed with defending Bannon will tell you it is a nationalist, anti crony-capitalism movement that has nothing to do with white nationalism or anti-semitism, etc.

The media will tell you it is poorly disguised nazism.

The truth is that it is a label claimed by some who fall under it, rejected by others who probably fall under it, and none of them necessarily share the same belief systems. It definitely has some major players with white nationalist and anti-minority/semite views. It has others who don't fit that description at all.

I actually find the more substantive, and often more abhorrent (racist) factions more interesting than the 4chan trolling-with-no-objective factions. The latter I'm not even sure meets the definition of "right" in the alt-right conversation.

No it isn't. The alt-right has been around a while and there are some pretty nasty people involved in it.

The "alt-right" that people like Milo are claiming is something different. The original alt-right hates Milo bigly.

The left has hijacked it and is applying it to everyone.

It's a movement of people who don't identify with traditional social/neo con conservatism and free trade.

They are a large portion of the electorate who have been left behind by both parties, made mostly of middle class whites but also a good portion of working class minorities, who hate the far left SJW crap, believe in a strong military but less interventionism, and believe in putting America first and a more unified American culture. They believe in tariffs and stricter trade deals to protect American industry

Has nothing to do with race and more to do with defining a clear American culture that all people should identify with. It's a nationalist movement but it's not a white nationalist movement. Just a pro traditional America nationalist movement

In my opinion, it seems to be a movement in opposition to neoconservativism thus rejecting the doctrines of nation building in foreign policy, open-border policies, and evangelicalism-based policies.
