Can a majority in the Senate change Senate rules to eliminate the fillibuster?

I realize the filibuster has long been used in the Senate to give minorities "leverage" so they can not be steam rolled, but the Dems changed the rules already for certain appointments. Can the Republicans change the rules for "everything" if they so choose?

BTW, not advocating they do that, just asking a question.

That would be the nuclear option.

They can get rid of the gentlemen's filibuster and make them actually talk endlessly.

Correct. The Constitution gives each chamber (House and Senate) the sole discretion to make its own rules.

The only caveats are, as spelled out in the Constitution, 1) for Constitutional amendments, 2/3 of each chamber must agree, 2) for impeachment or to approve treaties, 2/3 of the Senate must approve, and 3) in case of a tie in the Senate, the VP breaks the tie.

So the filibuster stays because the majority wants it?

Yeah majority could get rid of it anytime but than they would have to actually work and not talk
