again, the issue/fear is due to one thing: fear of bailouts

This.

Taxes go up, companies move to escape the burden/remain competitive, the state goes bankrupt, the Fed bails them out with taxpayer money, the state still gets its pound of flesh out of the tax base, no one learns a god damn thing, lather, rinse, repeat.

You can't tax your way out of a fiscal problem. Companies see this same problem everyday, they try to increase cash flow and still go bankrupt because no one controls the bottom line. Clearing a profit/surplus necessitates implementing cost/spending controls.

Texas? Yeah, I could see Texas getting the businesses more easily than La.
Remember when they made most movies in Hollywood? Now La is the movie making capital. Tax free helps.

I've seen a lot of companies 'evaluate' a move to NOLA. They usually involve several junkets to the FQ before deciding on another location.
I gotcha. No, this is more serious. Serious enough they have had a business survival plan and some other work done.

It's still just too politically difficult to operate a major business in NOLA. To many palms to grease, the PD is a criminal joke, the schools are atrocious and while improving, the infrastructure is still dilapidated.
Believe it or not, for hipsters that's part of he attraction. Hey want to be part of "rebuilding" NOLA (now that the electricity is back on ).

So we can go ahead and chalk you up for supporting a California bailout?

You can chalk me up as preferring California stop being stupid but, if they're not going to stop, then I'd prefer that they fail so obviously that they be the ONLY ones we have to bail out rather than the them and the 15 states that copied them thinking it looked like it was working.

This California proposal would have a fantastic impact on Texas.
