And of course I'm dumb for buying them. But I thought the NWO was making beef expensive to curtail heart attacks.

Now I find that they don't want me eating grapefruit.

Why?

I live in Indian River County, FL. This was the grapefruit capital of the US. A disease called Greening killed all of the trees. Coca Cola (Minute Made) spent hundreds of millions to try to stop it but ultimately failed. Citrus is gone in large swaths of Florida now.

Couple questions:

What is the brand?

Where did you buy it?

How many pounds was the bag?

Huanlongbing is the disease and it came from China via the Asian Citrus Cyllid. Ultimately the disease will kill the trees. It is taken extraordinarily serious out here in California. We've haven't experienced what Florida has. The growers for Florida's Natural OJ now have to blend with juice from Mexico and South America.

It was 8 individual grapefruit. The already bagged variety have disappeared for the last month or two.

The store was Harvey's. Formery Winn Dixie.

Organic 4 pound bag for $5.88

Absurd. Brandon didn't unleash the germ which ruined the grapefruit trees.

Get a grip, man

Label on the PLU sticker?

I'm just trying to determine if the fruit came from out here. If it did it's probably a Sunkist label. So you'd have the additional freight costs included and lord knows that isn't cheap. I saw that Harvey's already gets their bagged navels from Sunkist so they may have a program with them that includes other citrus varieties. Open market pricing is found below.

Grapefruit Market Pricing

When you see the size that's how many are in an individual box. You can do the math from there for a piece price at shipping point and compare that to what they're going for at market in specific cities that the USDA uses to report on. Storage, transportation, shrinkage and labor are all additional important factors in setting their retail price and that is a bit of a guessing game but they're probably marking it up around 30% - 40%.
