Even though their farm/wedding chapel is in a completely different jurisdiction from the market where they have sold blueberries for years (not that it should matter):

Is there a separate entity that controls certain rules and specifics of who can be a vendor or part of the farmers market? Surely they aren't telling them they can't sell to anyone privately

Are the required to harvest and sell gay blueberries too?

I wholeheartedly disagree with the City banning a business over something completely legal, but the fact that the farm is not within the city is pretty irrelevant. Not sure why that point was brought up.

Also, the headline to this thread is incredibly misleading/click bait. The business can sell their blueberries, just not at the City's FM.

Local government made a rule. They aren't following it so they can't use the farmers market to sell their produce. They can choose to follow the rule or sell their produce elsewhere. If you don't like the local ordinances that your city creates, you can fight to have them changed or move to a place that does things differently.

This is not a hard work around. Just say you believe in it and mock them in private like the rest of us.

If they are devout Catholics, the idea of lying about your beliefs in order to succeed materially is kind of a no-no.

Because that is where the "violations" of the city ordinance are occurring. There is nothing right about this.

Actually, the farm decided to not host ANY weddings after the incident took place, which was 2 years ago.

So not only are they not hosting gay weddings, they don't host hetero weddings either.

Basically the city is punishing them for something that happened 2 years ago.

The city is going to lose this.

What about the Vendor Guidelines? They are vendors.

Where did it say they aren't hosting any weddings anymore? If that's true then I'd agree with you.

I was wrong. He initially stopped hosting weddings, but then they decided to start back again, thus the City's ruling.

Smart move by them. You can't call something descrimination if you just stop completely.

FWIW, the ordinance in which the City is referencing was passed in 1972. It was one of the first to make gays a protected class.

Meanwhile, the ACLU is trying to prevent FGM from being prohibited by law in Maine. What a clown world
