Approach them like you always would. Welcoming, loving, caring, and not judgemental or condescending in any way whatsoever, because it's holiday family time and we as conservatives value family.

Then, when the liberal/prog visitors ultimately break protocol due to being overemotional and irrational and start talking politics, refute their talking points with very succinct facts while being careful to not make your responses too wordy or personally insulting. They'll tap out (and might even pick up and leave early) when you completely shut them down and they know they can't get you fired up and they can't prove you wrong.

This works well in my family. It did have the unfortunate side effect of smaller holiday gatherings in 2021 and 2022 because the more progressive faction of our family was literally afraid to catch the Corrvid from us horse-paste-eating redneck hillbillies, but this year they all came back to our Easter and Independence Day celebrations and we expect them to come back to Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings as well.

Give them time and they'll remember what's important. Will they choose to bring up political topics again? We'll see. But since they didn't do so on July 4th, I think they may have learned to just leave it alone. We understand that they truly think we're ignorant, uneducated and frankly stupid, and that they've somehow intellectually transcended the human condition. That makes things uncomfortable, but it's not supposed to be an easy task to be the bigger person and tune out the condescension and sanctimony.

I read Ole Miss has an 88% acceptance rate. That's insane.

Anyway...when the Dawgs beat them by 3 scores in Athens this weekend they'll just be another (top 10) cupcake.
