BREAKING: AP President Matassa indicted for bribery

The Advocate and WAFB are reporting that the Grand Jury assembled to review evidence in the bribery scandal involving Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa and businessman Olin Berthelot where they are acused of paying a candidate for Gonzales City Council $1200 to drop out of the race has indeed voted to indict the pair.
Parish Council is expected to gather to issue votes of no confidence to recall President Matassa, appoint an interim Parish President, and then organize a special election for later this year. More details to come later.

I had a meeting with Matassa last year about this time and he seemed all over the map. Can't there be a non-corrupt politician in this state?

Of course not. The corrupt got the dead vote and the welfare leach vote locked. That's enough for a slim majority in most parts of the state. Matassa only won the runoff against Clint Cointmont by little over 100 votes in a parish of 130,000 people.
