Break away from the USA? The effort to cleave California faces its own split

If there’s one thing Jed Wheeler and Marcus Ruiz Evans agree on, it’s that things in California need to change.
The state sends too much money to Washington, they say, and is both politically and culturally out of step with a country that lacks its openness and vitality.
“We can solve our own problems and don’t need to wait on a government 3,000 miles away,” said Wheeler, echoing Evans’ suggestion that Democratic-leaning California would be far better off going it alone as a separate country.
They sharply disagree, though, on the matter of how and precisely when California should seek a divorce from the other 49 states.

MAKE IT HAPPEN, LIBTARDS!!!

This would be hilarious. Unfortunately, we know how this will turn out. They break away, can't afford their utopia' and start jumping the border back into the US. When the 'state' implodes, the US will be back to what we are today. Only with more hatred from those same progs.

Imagine that. The liberals destroyed any semblance of states' rights in the courts, and often did it by handing out federal money like candy.
Now they want their states' rights back and to keep more of their locally generated money.
They should have thought about this decades ago while they were telling Texas that states' rights = racism.
And to make this more in line with the OP, Californians should've told their state government to respect local rights, too.

yes darn it. competing referenda is the surest way to kill a popular referendum idea.
I live in would be Jefferson and voted for it the first time it was on the ballot just to be considered by the regional politicians.
3 north, central, south
or 4 north, east, central south
or 4 LA county, 6 SF BAY counties, north with east and south
would all pass if there were just one to consider.

Like the government or any democrats from other states are going to let California to break away. Do those Cali liberals really believe they'll be allowed to function as their own country?

Not only do they believe it, they believe they can use non-fossil fuels to energize their ecotopia.

This would happen in Texas before it would happen in any other state.

For many reasons.

I guess they also forget that the bloodiest war in American history was fought to prevent states from leaving and doing their own thing. If they up and decided to leave one day the military would be sent in to restore order and their leaders would be charged with treason.

President Trump will never allow a nation of crackpots and lunatics so close to our borders.

No it wouldn't.
It's not going to happen, but if it does then both the US and California will suffer.

These guys LOOOOOOVE them some Federalism when their party isn't in power.
When their party is in power, they stop at nothing to load the federal government with power over all 50 states

I live in L.A. and this isn't even watercooler talk. It would be dumb anyway. The state could function though. So much money in this state.

Would West California have enough water for its people without East California?

solar in the desert

and now, roofing and road materials which generate power.
Tesla has surfacing materials now that Sun City Solar is selling for them. You can have a patio that generates electricity. We (wife and me) are having Sun out to propose a couple of solutions, bid/contract chatter. I had them out last year. We are talking about adding on a porch/sun room which would increase our solar surface on the side of the house where west sun sets.
My county's state legislator is chairing an experiment to generate power using two different road surfacing materials made in Israel and Germany to pave two roads in northern CA. its been approved by the Governor after much back and forth about budget. proof of concept.
We are talking about moving to Maui when wife retires, so we may not even stay here in which case, it would make selling the house more complicated if we have an energy generating contract or two for 20 years.

Once they break away, we declare war on them and level LA and San Fran from the air. Then they will get back in line.
