California GOP Rep. Devin Nunes filed a major lawsuit seeking $250 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages against Twitter and a handful of its users on Monday, accusing the social media site of "shadow-banning conservatives" including himself to influence the 2018 elections, systematically censoring opposing viewpoints and totally "ignoring" lawful complaints of repeated abusive behavior.

Here we go boys!

He wants the names of accounts that make fun of him on Twitter

Good luck with that, Devo

What’s the basis? Do people have a right to Twitter? Political Party isn’t a protected class so this will go nowhere.

I think it’s shitty of Twitter and the rest to do and there are all sorts of philisophical / ethical questions on what this does to our country, but they are private companies not breaking any rules so this is just a frivolous lawsuit and honestly the start of big gov intrusion at this point.

I like Nunes but this is absurd

Not sure. If Twitter ensures free political speech in its term of service, then proceeds to ban conservatives all Willy Nilly, there’s a case.

Big government intrusion has already started, and it uses private companies as its arm towards censorship.

How to deal with this, I don't have a damn clue, but let's not pretend that Twitter or other Big Tech platforms are completely private in their decisions. They have a very intimate relationship with our government, and intelligence agencies, specifically.

WaPo lawsuit for $250,000,000
CNN lawsuit for $250,000,000
Twitter lawsuit for $250,000,000

Obviously Nunes and Covington Smirkers are not TD baws.

1. $350,000 is an oddly strange and small amount for punitives;

2. Maybe he’s trying to get ahead of the Clarence Thomas re-write of defamation of public figures.

This is proof that most people who identify as conservative are neither conservative nor liberal, but rather they've chosen a team to side with just like the people they hate.

Good for Nunes. That leftist think tank and Schiff for brains cut him out for months on a trumped up ethics violation; just so he wouldn't investigate what we know now about the coup.

In this case the bullies don't want to converse. If the exact same practices were being conducted against progs, it would be wrong and cause a lot of sky screaming.

This conversation will be held in a court of law, with real-world consequences.

Anyone that listened to the Rogan podcast with Jack Dorsey and his head of whatever heard them say that their #1 priority was to prevent harassment and personal attacks. They said it so many times that a drinking game would put a listener into the ER.

Maybe there is some meat on this bone.

We are obviously trying to sort out this new thing where completely dominant social media platforms exercise blatant political bias.

A test case has to go up the ladder eventually to sort this out. Why not this?

Laughing at the case doesn’t seem right.

It is a serious matter that has to be dealt with eventually.

As a Conservative, I am not shaking Pom poms for government intervention into these matters but at the same time I’m concerned that the three main social media entities are owned by two companies and they are blatantly censoring and deplatforming Conservative entities.
