A lot of the problems sound like a lack of parenting before the kids get to school.

But even the presence of both parents is a problem if they instill a messed up culture. My first nice apartment after college was next door to a black guy who I hung out with a lot.
His Samoan mother put him up for adoption as a baby and a white couple took him and raised him white. He dressed, spoke and behaved like an upper class white guy. He got his MBA by age 24.
I asked if he had any problems with race. He said 'Only dating opportunities. I'm culturally white and I don't find black girls attractive at all. So I have a smaller pool of white girls that are open minded.'

Maybe the single biggest social issue in this country right now, but black people don't give a shite and politicians thank them for it.

Somewhere around the mid to late 80's black men decided to blow up the nuclear family structure. They've been in a downward spiral ever since.

That's 100% of their problem. People aren't inherently racist towards black people. The ones that think that live in fricking lala land. They are well into their 2nd generation of kids that don't know what it's like to have a mom AND a dad. They often live in pure chaos every single day at home and then are expected to not act out in school. White people can't fix black people's problems and these race baiting pieces of shite are just pushing the accountability can down the road.

I believe it. They likely experience large amounts of racism in homes and in daily interactions, the number of times they hear disparaging terms like "cracker" and comments about white people most certainly causes them anxiety and mental health issues. The most hurtful is that it causes them to adopt the same racist attitudes towards whites as those around them hold.

thats true, they are taught to be racists by their mothers and the random assortment of baby daddys. when you are taught to be a racist and think everything is racist, then that is your world view.

Are there any lefties here who will explain why it’s a good thing to brainwash kids into believing they are oppressed? What good can come from this?

Too many race hustlers peddling excuses and poor values are not good for kids mental health or their achievement.

The drivers of the mental health crisis for Black children begin early and persist through a lifetime.

Living in a radically racist household wherein lying cheating and stealing are all glorified conduct does seem to have an adverse effect on the mental health and personal conduct of any child regardless of their racial context.

It just seems that it contributes to a much more easy, carefree, convenient existence to bow oneself out of the responsibilities and expectations that others are saddled with having to orient their lives around and comply with.

Makes life a lot easier, until you wind up in the system; then it begins to really get difficult.

Of great assistance is that there's always someone, somewhere willing to apologize for it.

Personal accountability isn't something that anyone, regardless of race, seems to want to accept. There are challenges that everyone faces in life, and teaching a child to attach their lack of success to White people is reckless and abusive. Opportunity and success are as much attached to the willingness to be accountable for oneself, and the actions taken to achieve objectives, as it is to almost anything else - especially another race of people. No one is owed anything in life. Everything is there to be earned. You gain respect from yourself and others for your drive, vision, and relentless pursuit of your goals in life. Being crippled mentally at an early age by people that have a loser mentality just sets the whole stage up for failure. Plain and simple.

The three simple things to succeed.

1. Graduate from high school.
2. Get a full time job and/or learn a trade.
3. Don’t have kids until you are married.

Apparently those three simple things are too much to ask of the black community.

Yeah, I read something by a guy that was raised in your similar situation. If I remember correctly he said something like, “If you wanna raise a racist white kid, send them to a predominantly black school.”

Black schools like the one in Columbus, Ohio, where Strother works, students’ mental health is further tested by pressures and discrimination they endure because they are Black, as well as poverty and violence in some communities that have faced years of disinvestment.

“Anytime you deal with African American mental health, you’re not dealing with one thing,” Strother said. “It is several things. It is trauma that has not been addressed.”

I wish the article was not based on just one school counselor in Arkon, who doesn't have a PhD. and who's educational background is general studies degree from Norfolk State.

Because it’s easier to keep them on the plantation if they’re uneducated and dependent on the government.

One alternative hypothesis: black children are more likely to report that they are exposed to racist actions because they are socialized to see everything in racial terms. Do racism and racist actions exist? Sure. Do racism and racist actions exist to the level reported in this article? I am highly skeptical. But if the most innocuous, non-racial acts are viewed through a racial lens, and if the most innocuous, non-racial acts are perceived to reflect racism, it is not surprising that there are mental health ramifications for those socialized to see themselves as victims and targets of racism.
