Bishop critical of Trump church photo op among faith leaders to speak at Dems convention

The Episcopal bishop of Washington, D.C., who criticized President Donald Trump after he held a Bible aloft at a photo op at a historic church in her diocese, is among the diverse group of faith leaders selected by Democrats to speak at their presidential nominating convention.
Reflecting Democrats’ interest in interfaith engagement, Berkun is one of four faith leaders from three religious traditions who are scheduled to speak on Thursday, the convention’s final day. The party also planned an interfaith service on Sunday.
Budde was outspoken in her criticism of Trump for staging the June 1 visit to the historic St. John’s Church across from the White House, where he held up a Bible after authorities had cleared the area of people protesting peacefully against racial injustice. “He took the symbols sacred to our tradition and stood in front of a house of prayer in full expectation that would be a celebratory moment,” Budde said in an interview after Trump’s walk from the White House.
This is one of the aspects that turns people off from organized religion: these 'leaders' who seek the limelight, who display no humility, who become involved in politics and don't even attempt to maintain a neutral position, who accept speaking engagements at national political conventions. I don't know about anyone else, but my faith is my faith, not a 'tradition.' The Bible represents my faith, not my traditions.

Want to hear a joke? Women in the clergy.

We'll just ignore that it was Dems that burned the fricking church

Anybody who still attends an Episcopalian service is a moral idiot. They might as well officially repudiate and denounce Jesus Christ and throw in with the CCP , cannibalism and puppy murder. Beyond hope.

Typical the the Dems find someone to criticize Trump's gesture. If he didn't hold up the Bible they they would say he should have.

As a member of the clergy, one would think that she would offer prayers for the President, the USA, all sinners and ask for forgiveness for herself for putting herself on a pedestal.

What convention?

She oddly isn’t speaking out against that.

Is the killing of unborn children sacred to her tradition? What about mutilating little boys so they can pretend to be girls?
Because the people she will be speaking for love both of those.

Yep. Episcopalianism has become Unitarian Universalism with collars and Evensong.

Do the democrats have anything except “hate Trump”?

If the bishop really believed that using churches for political purposes was wrong she wouldn't speak at this convention either.
But again, if liberals didn't have double standards they wouldn't have any.

So, it's up and running. The secret lab in the basement of the Harvard Divinity School where they ordain women surgically.

“No one loves the Bible more than I do” -Donald Trump

Didn't Obama have a photo op in front of the same church?

That has nothing to do with this whining piece of shite. He is from one of the mainline denominations that has been corrupted with leftist horse shite for several decades.
Try again Cupcake.

While in basic at Fort Knox, I would go to mass which was held within walking distance of our barracks. My battle talked me into going to an Episcopalian service one Sunday. It required a bus ride which was nice because it was unsupervised. At the end of service, they served us cookies and juice. I should have known the Episcopalian's were trouble.

I’m standing by what I said. The left didn’t make him say that. It was a stupid thing for him to say.

The Episcopal Church that you mention, as you comment, has abandoned, repudiated, denies, or has outright jettisoned anything resembling traditional orthodox Christianity.
The crucified and resurrected Jesus who is Lord of Lords and Head of His Church, the Jesus of Holy Scripture, has already been repudiated and denounced leaving an ethereal soy boy preaching a message of social justice and be nice. I'm just one way to God among many, many equally right and valid paths.
Having said that, there are a lot of us out here who've had to abandon the term Episcopalian, because of its justified heretical reputation, and adopt Anglican to differentiate and distance ourselves from an apostate and heretical organization that can no longer reasonably call itself a part of Christ's Church. We are solidly Biblical, theologically traditional and orthodox, and reverently worshipful.
We are not The Episcopal Church to which you refer.

Democrats invoking God through Bishop at their Convention?
I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that place, especially if there is lightning in the area.
