In fact, on March 19, it’s likely that Biden will have the delegates needed to win, and Trump won’t be far behind.

And just as importantly, after the five primaries that take place on March 19, it will also be too late for Biden or Trump to get out of the race since many states require their delegates to vote for the candidates they are committed to on convention first ballots.

“I think he has to make that decision by the 19th himself,” said Trey Trainor, one of six commissioners on the Federal Election Commission and a former FEC chairman.

“If he hasn’t made it by then,” Trainor added, “all of these other things kick in. You get bound delegates. You get him having enough delegates on the first vote that the super delegates can’t vote. You get state laws that now are requiring him, because he’s got enough votes, to be the nominee.”

Lee Goodman, an elections attorney and former FEC chairman, said: “As a practical matter and a legal matter, the nomination processes of both parties are too far along for new candidates to enter the contest and win a sufficient number of ballots.”

The calendar math is also closing on groups like No Labels that think they can jump in and run an independent campaign, possibly headed by Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) or Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) or even former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

They can claim he isn’t competent to serve and that he can’t accept the nomination.

Let him speak for 3 minutes without drugs and you can easily argue he is too mentally incompetent to execute any contract.

His brain dropped out years ago. Now it's watching a mannequin manipulated by skilled but evil ventriloquists.

I don't think this is true. If the candidate drops out the race at any point before the election then the pledged delegates become unpledged. Because what would happen if the candidate died or was otherwise incapacitated?

ABC News laid out the various scenarios of what happens if Trump/Biden exit the race at various points in 2024.

They hoped the lawfare against DJT would pressure him to drop out.

They KNOW Biden will be forced out later in the process in a flailing attempt at keeping Trump out.

The DNC has already changed their rules for replacing a candidate in preparation for all of this.

At the convention, the bound delegates will all cast their first ballots for Biden, who will have already dropped out of the race. Then they will proceed to the second ballot and nominate whoever they want.

This has a real shot of happening because Biden is not popular with democratic voters and this is another "anyone but Trump election." They will absolutely accept a last minute candidate.

ETA: I fully acknowledge that I am likely wrong on this but I'm calling my shot that he won't be the nominee.

Indeed. Helen Keller could've seen this coming.

True

I’m not so sure about this.

I don’t see any single candidate that the disparate factions will align under and one of the floated tickets, Newsom and Whitmer, is going to piss off every minority (racial or sexual) in the party because they didn’t get THEIR candidate in.

Macht nichts. No one else can get on the ballots. Biden can release his delegates at the convention if he wants to step down.

I think you are mistaking President Biden with trump - 32 times this weekend alone that fat, broke loser mispronounced words, got confused, mixed up names, forgot names, and babbled insane nonsense... all while Dark Brandon quietly continues to bravely and patriotically lead our country.

I also look forward to them having to explain to their black voters why they jumped over the black female VPOTUS when they slide in Whitmer, etc.

Even if Biden drops out, the agreement will maintain a lot of the same staff, and the candidate will have to maintain most of the same policy. It will amount to a change in face of the staff, change of figurehead only. The policy they stand on is still awful and ruining our country. That has to be the message from GOP. It’s not just about Biden
