How to kill the east coast economy in one easy step.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-administration-boating-proposal-would-greatest-regulatory-overreach-kind-critics-warn

quote:

The far-reaching regulation would restrict speed to 10 knots or 11.5 miles per hour for all boats over 35 feet – for up to seven months out of the year and up to 100 miles out at sea for most of the East Coast.
The purpose: to prevent the boats from hitting an endangered right whale.

In an email to Fox News, an NOAA spokesman pointed out there are only 350 right whales left in the ocean.

"This rule is designed to reduce the risk of mortalities from vessel strikes and afford the species a greater opportunity to recover," the statement read.

Only 350 right whales? They must be hard as hell to find, much less hit.

Can you expand, what's wrong? The article, or what the Biden admin is considering, or something else?

Some "seasonal slow zones" already exists but...

The environmental organization Oceana released a report in 2021 that said noncompliance was as high as nearly 90% in voluntary zones and was also dangerously high in the mandatory ones.

Where are they going to set up the speed traps?

actually = unless you are pleading gross ignorance and just want to learn 'something' - your only respond ought to be showing 'what is right with it' and be willing to deflect questions directed your way.

If boats are mandated to only make left turns, would they avoid right whales?

They won't need to set up speed traps. Most all 35' vessels, both commercial and private nowadays are equipped with AIS, so they litterly have a satellite transponder linked to a GOv database with your course and speed info.
